You mean those people who think that dirty, nasssssssssssty little theives are stealing their precious! So they go out and sue as many of them as possible!

Would those be the people who know a hell of a lot more than you and me that you're talking about?

Psh. Moral High Ground. Ethics. Who cares? I download music because most of it is shit and I ain't paying for 10 peices of shit to get 1 good song.

If that makes me an evil pirate who's a horrible person and kills babies, then I have only one thing to say :

ARRR MATEY, AVAST YE SCURVY DAWGS, RAISE THA ANCHOR AND HOIST THE SAILS LUBBERS!

And I don't fear the RIAA all that much, because I don't use KaZaA or K-Lite, I use DC++, and even then I don't share my MP3's, I share my anime

Then I dont ever wanna hear you complaining about someone breaking the law or other wrong doings that people have done to you. You've just lost all right to bitch about it.

Can I at least bitch about people who call in and ask really dumb questions and/or fail to follow proper troubleshooting procedure? (IE : Idiots who don't listen to me when I tell them to do something)

Besides, bitching is my god-given right! I've got the first amendment on my side, I can bitch, whine, and moan all I want! And trust me, if something bad happens, I plan to Just as it's your god-given right to laugh in my face should something like this happen, just as I'm doing now

Sorry, I didn't know, its changed now!

The article said that they charged 261 people in one day. And that they charged up to $150,000 per song. If they charged 261 people a day for 1 year and each had only 1 song by the end of the year they would have sued for $14,289,750,000!

And it would have cost many millions of dollars to do so, and they probably would've netted a grand total of a few hundred thousand dollars by then. Excellent business model, fellas.

Quite possibly the biggest problem with this whole file sharing mess is the fact that the laws are being passed mainly by 60 year old people that couldn't find an mp3 if they had to. And who is there to "help" them out? Good ol' RIAA and MPAA. I'm sure there could be a nice balanced law out there that everyone would be happy with, but it will never happen with our congress. Also, RIAA should focus more on fixing the problems than just suing the hell out of everyone.

Over the mountain, in between the ups and downs, I ran into Azizza who doth quote:
I think you confuse "most people" with spoiled kids and people who dont' give a damn about rules.

The fact that you need to resort to unwarranted villification of these people only serves to suggest that you have no real argument.

And just FYI, according to the RIAA 48% of music pirates are between the ages of 18 and 29, and 42% are between the ages of 30 and 49.

quote:
Sufficient Moral Justification for stealing would be if you were starving and needed to steal food and water.
Music is not a need or a right. It is a luxary. That means you can live without it.

Hello missed point.

My previous series of hypothetical questions was an attempt to point out that the RIAA are NOT a band of pitiable victims, ravaged by evil pirates. They're as bloodthirsty as the greedy thieves who steal from them, and the only thing they have going for them is a precariously held and illicitly obtained legal stature as the owners of ALL MUSIC.

quote:
I dont' care if they charge $100.00 per CD. Don't buy it then. But you have no right to steal it.

I never claimed I did, I only claimed that lack of a right won't stop me, or anyone.
