I wont say because, even I have a strict honor code to up-hold, i'm not going to put someone else's butt on the line because of that.I think it's quite sad that people now-a-days cant have any respect for others personal buisness.
So SUE ME
You should be able to understand things like that as a human being, as I said before, I have a certain ammount of respect for you, i'd only ask for the same.
Because I'm wondering who would invite you here, throw you to the dogs (prarie dogs in this case), then hide and watch you fend for yourself against the hazing.
What possible reason would someone have for dragging you here other than if they're unpopular and scared that if we don't like you that they will be blamed for it?
Great friend there.
EC is a community. At times we act like a club of sorts. And one of the things we usually expect when someone joins is to know WHY they joined. Or WHO brought them here. And as you can imagine, saying 'Someone brought me here but I won't say who' tends to raise people's... curiosity. Or in some case, suspicions.

Im not going to lie to you, but im not going to break any promises i made either. So you can stop wasting your time and asking, because im not going to tell you. [ 06-22-2003: Message edited by: Ryouki Sensei ]
If this is true, then why do we fear it?

Verily, the chocolate bunny rabits doth run and play while Ryouki Sensei gently hums:
Thats not even close to the point. What I am trying to say is im not going to lie to you. I was aksed if i was invited, and i said yes, telling the truth. But I made a previous promise comitting myself not to give names before you asked, so if you want to know who it is you can either wait, or be told straight from that particular person.
Which has nothing to do with anything Khyron or I are saying.
So far, I'm not impressed with your "friend."

My honest opinion here is that his "friend" was afraid of us disliking this newbie, and thought if we didn't like him we'd think less of his "friend" as a result.
I agree, 'Sage. Sounds like one piss-poor friend to me.
If this is true, then why do we fear it?
quote:
Khyron had this to say about Pirotess:
I treat him badly because he refuses to tell us who referred him.
Maybe he wants a chance to have a reputation based totally off of how he acts and behaves as opposed to how the person that brought him here acts and behaves?
Maybe he doesnt want people to hate him right away because the wrong person brought him here. Why does it matter if he tells you? Sure, his friend may not be the nicest person for helping defend him, but I can think of a few cases where the friend is better off not saying they brought someone here. The people would have been much more liked, or given more of a chance.
Just some soamm bits of advice, Ryouki. 1) If someone says something you disagree with as a newbie, you're better off just ignoring them, particularly on your initial thread. 2) Read Bloodsage's post more carefully. He wasnt saying he was un-impressed with you, but he was un-impressed with your friend. [ 06-22-2003: Message edited by: Falaanla Marr ]

Then dont be impressed, I could care less, because im not trying to impress anyone, that is the way i am deal with it.
So you do care some, since you could care less? Or were you trying to say you couldn't care less?
Please tell me English is your second language. Then we can get Tarquinn to come make fun of you.
I don't care that you've promised not to tell, dude, so don't get huffy. I'm just telling you that your "friend" hasn't done you any favors by extracting such a promise. And if he/she/it had a spine, he/she/it would stand up and take the heat off you.
You started off fairly well. . .but you should take a little extra care about how you communicate. Butchering the language, unless it's your schtick--and Mog and Kagrama have that pretty much locked up--won't make you any friends around here.

I know him personally, you on the other hand do not. So please refrain from telling me that he is like that.

wait, wait..what were we talking about? [ 06-22-2003: Message edited by: Aury ]
It is one small question in a board of how many topics?!? Can't the subject be dropped? Wouldn't it be much better if this subject dropped completly???
[ 06-22-2003: Message edited by: Ryouki Sensei ]
This has gone on for four pages already, just on who invited me. If you know i am not going to tell, why keep trying?
If this is true, then why do we fear it?

*Sighs* Very well then, I will watch my proper english more if it bothers you so much. As for my friend, he doesnt do much in the board to help, but in REAL LIFE there is a difference.I know him personally, you on the other hand do not. So please refrain from telling me that he is like that.
Caring how you communicate is a good thing.
Telling me what my opinion of your "friend" should be is not.
Why did your alleged buddy swear you to silence? Why does he leave you hanging, caught in a crossfire of his doing? He hasn't done you any favors at all, because there are very few people whose association would cause you problems (presumably the reason for making you promise not to tell).
Are you a gay martial artist with fast fists and forearms of power?
Are you an angsty Canadian who can't live without obnoxious eyeshadow?
Are there, perhaps, even darker secrets you are hiding?

"I know him personally" (outside the computer) Therefore i carry a respect for him. Now another question for you...
1.) If you say that respect is earned, then why do i come in here already respecting you all? Should you do something for me to earn my respect?
2.)If that is the case that I should automatically respect you, then i should alse expect respect, correct?
If this is true, then why do we fear it?

Only if we cared about actually getting your respect.
YOU came in to OUR community, YOU are the one who is new, YOU are the one who wants us to respect him, while to us YOU are just some new face in a crowd of new faces. Around here people don't care one way or another unless you can show them that we should. Around here we've had dipshits joining who spammed five topics within an hour of signing up. Around here we've put up with assfucks who insult some of our friends (Ask someone about Paul554 sometime). We don't care unless we see a reason to. We've seen how many newbies come in, post a bit, then leave out of disinterest or stupidity? How many twits come in, post a bit, make an ass out of themselves because they just 'don't care' anymore, then leave (Or get banned)?
Edit : Don't expect us to conform to YOUR ideas of how this board should be. You're the one joining us here. You're the one who wants to fit in, to be a part of this community. You can accept the rules and the way things are, and you can try to earn our respect, or you can sit there and insist we should give you respect while we laugh in your face. 1. Are you Canadian? If yes, go to 2. If no, go to A.
2. Are you bald, shirtless, and like to post webcam pictures of your body in different positions? If yes, go to 3. If no, go to 3.
3. Are you one of BlueMage's newbie hell spawn? If yes, go to B. If no, go to A.

I don't remember ever being told that it's a requirement for me to like every newb who shows up.
I don't like this one. I find him annoying. I find his attitude annoying (But I respect you! So you should respect me!). Everyone talks about making good first impressions, well, he's made a pretty poor first impression to me.
Of course, I don't particularly expect him to care. It doesn't matter to me one way or another, but you all know how much I just love to have my opinion heard, no matter how well or poorly it's taken. I've spoken my mind here and I'll continue to do so like always; I'm just that kind of person.

There's an Anime forum here by the way, where the petty posturing at least has something concrete to back it up.

Consider that a new requirement from this point forward, then.
Hazing newbies is now officially against the rules since you shitheads obviously don't know where to draw the line between harmless fun and being downright cruel and mean.
This thread is done. If you dickheads want to keep up your pissing matches, go to flameball.
