The new color scheme makes baby Cthulu cry.
Baby hell. This color scheme would make Fully grown destroyer of worlds Cthulu cry.
Can you tell what I voted!
Oh, and what happened with the new EC logo? It just seems like a step down artistically from what you've done in the past.

I really don't like it. Bits of it are kinda nice, I like the blues, though it's kind of hard to see on them, and the Evercrest at the top looks...classy, kind of grown up. (does that fit us?? No, not really ) But the rest? *shakes her head* Yuck. [ 05-01-2003: Message edited by: Delaney ]
But I got a question.
Shouldn't the "forums" button on the new mainpage lead to either this overview or this one now that you're expecting new members?

I agree that the already-viewed links should be a brighter color (currently light blue) and the unviewed links a less obtrusive color (currently mustard yellow). Swapping them might be nice. And try 005060 to replace C9B731 in the (currently) gold bars.
That or back to green. I do remember that I originally didn't like the green either but it grew on me. However, that yellow (combined with the blue) is an affront to humanity
but the rest is toooooo dark
It's a big change, and I think it will just take time for people to get used to.
Bloo and gold are cool, but the gold needs to be toned down--it hurts when I look at my monitor.
Too little contrast!
There's also a lot of eye-straining dark-on-dark background/text combinations. Ouch.
All in all, I like blue better than green, but the colors need major tweaking, and everything will need updated to show up better.

or the ability to define our own color schemes, like from a list of choices or somesuch.
I can tolerate it, but it's not something I can stare at all day like the old one was.
Hanging out here is physically painful now.

Drysart had this to say about Robocop:
I'm going to tone down some of the brighter colors (the brighter of the two post backgrounds, in particular), and try some alternatives for the gold bars, and some other stuff like changing the new/active/visited link colors to make more sense.
You are, as always, the man.
I like the idea of updating the site, though. And, to be honest, it's nice to see someone err on the side of aggressiveness rather than cautious conformity.

Drysart painfully thought these words up:
Oh, and for what it's worth, per-user color schemes are still on the list of things to investigate, but I'm not going to promise anything more than that in the short term because it's fundamentally incompatible with the way UBB caches data and such -- I could do them in an hour or so but it would shoot the server load through the roof because the forum caches would be constantly invalidated. Per-user color schemes might have to wait until I finally jettison what's left of UBB under the hood.
Thanks for actually listening to what I said, here then, is an ever further suggestion since I'm still currently not doubting the power of Drysart:
What if....you made kinda a baseline template, and then allowed each user instead of picking from a set list of templates, just outright make their own scheme, to fit styles, just a suggestion, not a request, not a demand, those that flame me will eat the flame back hard n dirty like.

Just out of curiousity, what would you call the running environment of the board?

I am indifferent -- like everything else, it'll take some getting used to.
Should've said something, but I've said it enough
