Is it wrong for men to cry? In public I think so, but if you want to do so in the privacy of your own room, break out the emo and Kleenex.

I don't cry. I'm sure other people do, but I don't.Well, unless it's like, 'HOLY FUCK IT JUST TORE OFF MY GODDAMN ARM THE PAIN THE PAIN THE PAIN' or if I have something in my eye. Then I cry, but never because of like, emotional issues. I keep 'em bottled up, mostly.
Unless you're really concentrated, you'd probably go into shock and not really notice the pain that much, anyway

In societies where male tears are an accepted occurrence, there is less call for psyclologists.
I rarely cry. The only times I ever really cry are when I royally fuck something up, and I'm feeling sorry for myself and beating myself up over it, and them someone tells me that even though I fucked up bad, they still love me.
I'm feeling so bad, ripping myself apart, and they still love me, and it just makes me cry.
Last time I cried, was when I was brought home in handcuffs, I'd lost my driver's license, and the police had just explained to my parents what I'd done. My mother said she loved me, and I just started crying.
I'll also occasionally mist up a little at movies, if they're emotional. No tears, just wet eyes.
No, Really. Bite me.
Now, i'm not going to tell a stupid story or state my personal disposition on the matter, but I'll address the point that our society is based on chivalric principles, which seem to make it less acceptable for men to cry than women. So, really, it depends on your opinion of the chivalric code. Not anyone else.

Is it ok for guys to cry?
I mean, I don't know, I just seem to have this bad habit of doing it. It's like, i get all stressed, and then I have like an emotional breakdown. It happens especially with competition (I have a hard time relaxing =/).
But my question is, is it just socially inacceptable and weak for a man to cry, period?
No, no it's not.
Sorry, dude.
But unless your wife/child/dog/favorite fishing pole just died, it's not okay.
Although, frankly, I don't have much use for women who cry over everything. It's hardly a useful reaction to a given situation, and it's nothing a little self-discipline won't solve.

Actually, I think moving as a child can sometimes be worse than family/friends dying, so there's that, too. [ 04-25-2003: Message edited by: Where's Waisz? ]

Oh, come on, even I got that one. "In my not so humble opinion."
Come on, get with it. Or squirt some tears.
So, immenshow. Immenshow to all.

Actually, no. You can make a stupid face, you can double over and you can ever roll on the ground a bit. But the second you start to cry, you're a pussy.

I don't agree with any of that, cept the death part.
My girls make me happy enough to cry on occasion. I also have a tendancy to be paranoid and have bad dreams of something happening to them that can bother me enough to cry. Having one of them struggling with an illness, or as in Ravyn's case who was just recently bitten by a Widow lying on the couch inept, but out of the blue managed to roll over while I was taking care of her and say "I love you daddy." broke me down pretty damn quick. Saying goodbye to my sister, whom I knew I would not see again for many years made me cry, because I was all she had and practically raised her growing up. When I finnally did come back, watching mys sister who again I practically raised, getting married made me cry because I got to see her grow up. I am not a weak person, and I know very few people who would concider me such, but situations like that can make me cry.
Death is not the only reason to cry. Granted crying over petty little details all the time isn't either, but there are more reasons for tears than just death. Especially for a parent, and in other situations.
For the record, I'm female, and I don't cry much. I know guys who cry more than I do. I don't hold it in, just rarely feel deeply affected enough to be brought to tears. When I do cry, though, then I feel there's nothing wrong with it, because it's a natural, honest reaction to something that touches me emotionally.

Of course it's not the answer.
But I was just wondering.

I agree with Bloodsage up to a point. If you need to be "the strong one" or its in public in front of people, you should have some control. However, in a more personal setting, by yourself or with your loved ones, at a movie or whatever, crying is fine.
I cry often. I just restrain myself if I am in a situation when my tears could hurt others.
