I haven't cried in close to seven years, in fact, I'm starting to wonder if its possible for me to cry any more, since I spent a lot of tears while I was in the midst of my worst years in grade school. Now, even if I get hurt, I don't cry, in fact, sometimes it barely bothers me. Like one time when I accidently sliced myself while helping cut copper wire, all I did was walk silently over to the med center and got myself a dressing.

Is it wrong for men to cry? In public I think so, but if you want to do so in the privacy of your own room, break out the emo and Kleenex.

Unless you're really concentrated, you'd probably go into shock and not really notice the pain that much, anyway

There have been some times over the last 5 months or so that I really wish I could cry. Sometimes I can, but never when I really want to.
I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piƱa coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

"Tears are the lubricant for the soul"

In societies where male tears are an accepted occurrence, there is less call for psyclologists.

I rarely cry. The only times I ever really cry are when I royally fuck something up, and I'm feeling sorry for myself and beating myself up over it, and them someone tells me that even though I fucked up bad, they still love me.

I'm feeling so bad, ripping myself apart, and they still love me, and it just makes me cry.

Last time I cried, was when I was brought home in handcuffs, I'd lost my driver's license, and the police had just explained to my parents what I'd done. My mother said she loved me, and I just started crying.

I'll also occasionally mist up a little at movies, if they're emotional. No tears, just wet eyes.

Bite me.

No, Really. Bite me.

Len, asking other people if it's alright to cry isn't the answer. You obviously believe that it's something to be brought into question, and you are the only one who can make the distinction.

Now, i'm not going to tell a stupid story or state my personal disposition on the matter, but I'll address the point that our society is based on chivalric principles, which seem to make it less acceptable for men to cry than women. So, really, it depends on your opinion of the chivalric code. Not anyone else.

I mean, I don't know, I just seem to have this bad habit of doing it. It's like, i get all stressed, and then I have like an emotional breakdown. It happens especially with competition (I have a hard time relaxing =/).

But my question is, is it just socially inacceptable and weak for a man to cry, period?

No, no it's not.

Sorry, dude.

But unless your wife/child/dog/favorite fishing pole just died, it's not okay.

Although, frankly, I don't have much use for women who cry over everything. It's hardly a useful reaction to a given situation, and it's nothing a little self-discipline won't solve.

Actually, I think moving as a child can sometimes be worse than family/friends dying, so there's that, too.

It's okay for kids to cry. . .and moving is certainly stressful.

I figure if you're not angsting all over everything, a little personal angst couldn't hurt. I figure the human mind's got this all worked out - we don't cry 'cause we need to flush out our tear ducts, we cry as a mental release. Without that release, things build up and bad things happen in de braen. Crying's less expensive than a psych visit, and as said, as long as you aren't angsting over everything, all's well.

But, as said, it's your response.

Is it okay for a grown man to cry? Sure. But he'd better have a damn good reason to if he doesn't want to look like a pussy.
I don't know how to be sexy. If I catch a girl looking at me and our eyes lock, I panic and open mine wider. Then I lick my lips and rub my genitals. And mouth the words "You're dead."

I don't agree with any of that, cept the death part.

My girls make me happy enough to cry on occasion. I also have a tendancy to be paranoid and have bad dreams of something happening to them that can bother me enough to cry. Having one of them struggling with an illness, or as in Ravyn's case who was just recently bitten by a Widow lying on the couch inept, but out of the blue managed to roll over while I was taking care of her and say "I love you daddy." broke me down pretty damn quick. Saying goodbye to my sister, whom I knew I would not see again for many years made me cry, because I was all she had and practically raised her growing up. When I finnally did come back, watching mys sister who again I practically raised, getting married made me cry because I got to see her grow up. I am not a weak person, and I know very few people who would concider me such, but situations like that can make me cry.

Death is not the only reason to cry. Granted crying over petty little details all the time isn't either, but there are more reasons for tears than just death. Especially for a parent, and in other situations.

There's a BIG difference between crying over every little thing and crying because you're overcome with a given emotion enough for it, Sage. A true, honest cry stemming from a deeply moving emotion is nothing to be ashamed of, male or female.

For the record, I'm female, and I don't cry much. I know guys who cry more than I do. I don't hold it in, just rarely feel deeply affected enough to be brought to tears. When I do cry, though, then I feel there's nothing wrong with it, because it's a natural, honest reaction to something that touches me emotionally.

Of course it's not the answer.

But I was just wondering.

Grammar is your enemy! - While being able to understand someone's sentences might seem like a good idea for a proper essay, complaining on a forum scarcely leaves time for such trivialities. Write fast! You're angry, grrr! Make that show, and forget about things like capital letters, punctuation, and verbs.

I haven't cried for quite some time, can't remember when I did last. But I don't see much of a reason why it wouldn't be fine. It releases stress and pressure, so obviously there's a reason to cry. The only actual reasons not to would be the entire "wuss" brand society puts on it.

It's OK to cry in some circumstances.

I agree with Bloodsage up to a point. If you need to be "the strong one" or its in public in front of people, you should have some control. However, in a more personal setting, by yourself or with your loved ones, at a movie or whatever, crying is fine.

I cry often. I just restrain myself if I am in a situation when my tears could hurt others.
