I'm in the open. However, all the various things I saw on the open beta said that it was starting next week. So I figured I'd check out all the available options, see if I can find any useful strategizing information, and plan my character advancement.
The best strategy I have found so far is to join a squad, get an AMS near a base, then try to sneak your squad into the base. Once 4 or 5 people have the cap room secure, hack it, and prepare to be attacked
Did that last night, and GOD DAMN it was fun.
Things to note :
If you're going to hack a facility AND HAVE AN ADVANCED HACKER ON THE TEAM, don't take out its power. If you take out power, you can't hack the equipment terminals. If you hack the terminals, your team gets equipment, health, etc. While the enemy can't
If you think your team is going to lose the place, bomb the generators. This makes sure the enemy can't get their equipment or anything either ^_^
Since you can't get MAX from the AMS, having a hacker come along to hack equipment terminals can really help.
If you see your entire team rushing one base on a continent, takes 3 or 4 of them to a DIFFERENT base while the rest of your moron teammates rush the first to their doom. The enemy will have only a token guard there; easy for you to take over

Heh. Remember my non-interest in close-quarters combat? I'll probably be the person flying you from place to place, then parking a bit outside and pulling out the sniper rifle to make sure the transport/AMS (you can carry one in a galaxy!) stays secure.
You CAN carry an AMS in a galaxy? Huh, I didn't think you could, but that's great if you can!
But the AMS has a built-in cloaking field... you'd probably be best off with a more close-range weapon in case an enemy stumbles upon the AMS. If they're far off, they won't see it
Your first implant should be the range magnifier, then advanced targetting (I like it for HP information) then regeneration.
Besides, I've pistol-sniped enough in Halo to be able to be decently accurate with tiny targets.
and as far as factions go...
Loyalty until Death!
But still, 3 shots for a max kill? Jebus, thought it would be more.

Three rockets. Phoenix rockets, at least. Other empires are weaker. MAX units are cake to take out on the open field, I can hold back a full squad easy if I have spare rockets in my buggy. But if you run into one indoors... ouch.
MAXes are still pretty resilient, it takes sustained fire from armor piercing rounds to damage them if you lack antitank weaponry.

They do turn pretty slowly though, easy to get and stay behind if you are quick.

Hee hee, that's why my favorite configuration has both the Phoenix and the Jackhammer. I can kick their asses no matter where they are.
Makes sense, since that's a rather large thing to have to deal with in hit-detection.
