What are they on, and how much of it did they have to shove up their asses to get that stoned?
Frogloks are NOT a good race choice. Gnolls would have been MUCH better.
Both (Frogloks and Gnolls) have a lot of history that has never been uncovered. Both have different places throughout the world where they appear. Both have differing factions, depending on where you find them.
However, it appears that they're not doing anything NEW with the Frogloks. All the "new" history that will be uncovered will just be variations on what's allready there. Most of everything else they bring will just be variations on what other races have. (Is anyone else seeing them as some kind of "Good Iksar"?)
Gnolls, on the other hand, are set up for something to happen that could change them into a player race (as opposed to just suddenly being one). The Gnolls of Splitpaw lost their home. While many died, some escaped, and even now must be looking for a place to create a new home. Imagine them finding such a place, perhaps by forming a truce with one of the other player races. They could also attract stragglers from the other Gnoll clans, giving people choices for fur colour/pattern.
A new Gnoll city, trying to rebuild what they have lost, and having learned the value of good allies, would be a major storyline event. It would move the world ahead, and make history. It would be a worthy and interesting change to the world, the beginings of what may someday become a major change to Norrath's future.
Frogloks do no such thing. They are what and where they are, and there is no "lost clan" out there. This may add some zones, but it won't really move the world ahead. There is no history in the making here, no bold step forward for any race.
I expect that I'll be hooked into this when it hits, because some of those extras sound nice. But, I will tell you right now, I plan on shunning any frog I see. They are not worthy.

And I accidently preordered. Was going to anyway, but I thought clicking on it on the news window right before server select was going to bring up another interface
Imagine all the dogs and cats roleplay that could have popped up had they picked gnolls!

Teehee, Zaile is upset.
Probably because he can't wank off to Froglok Porn ^_^

On that note, I like the Froglok choice.
If Gnolls were PC race, we'd have RP Yiff and I would have to shoot someone.

Actually, it's because I was hoping that I could borrow a good fur brush from them. I lost mine somewhere in Paludal.
And I can't wank off to anything. I'm an EverQuest character, and Verant left off all the interesting bits that go inside the pants. Allthough, after hunting Saurek Hoppers during my younger levels, I would be missing that stuff wheither Verant had put it there or not damned spikey toothed bastards.
And if you think people aren't going to get off on Frogloks, you've forgotten about their tounges. Not to mention, the recreational uses of a slime covered body.

I suspect that they're using Frogloks in part because of the fact that the expansion will be download only. Also, Gnolls are fairly wide spread (even compared to Frogs), and there would have to be lots of faction adjustments. Also, Vah Shir are somewhat "neutral" as the game goes, and Iksar are "evil". It's natural that they wanted a "good" race this time, and Frogs do kinda fit the bill.
But I don't see it moving the game world ahead any. Doing something big with Gnolls would have more of a world impact that doing something big with Frogloks. Also, I suspect that more people would rather play a Gnoll than a Froglok, because Frogs just aren't that lovable (in a cute, puppydog way). Part of Fippy's charm and fame is his cute factor, despite the number of newbies he's attacked. People hate D'Vinn (sp?), but they love Fippy.
As for the whole yiffing thing? I hate to tell you, but there's cyber sex going on in EQ allready. It went on with Elves and Barbarians. It went on with Elves and Vah Shir. It went on with Elves and Ogres. And it will go on with Elves and Frogloks. (Elves get all the action, did you ever notice that?) As long as they're keeping it within their own little group or to tells, and not blocking my access to the merchants, I don't care what character races sit there and type pretend sex at each other.
Seriously. I think Gnolls would have been a better choice. It would have given them a better chance to do things with the game world. Sadly, they passed that chance by.

Any word on that?
Discussion over.

It can personally attest that it went on between Dark Elves and Humans, and Dark Elves and Dark Elves too.
THE LITTLE FOLK WILL HAVE THEIR DAY! You'll be sorry when you're all high on pixie dust and slaves to our whims!
We just want more chances to be cute

You really should read some lore about races that aren't covered in fur before you try to talk about them.

If they had gone with Aviaks, I would have been fairly happy (despite the lack of fur). Goblins remind me of frogs kinda, so I wouldn't have liked them. (Besides, Goblins are the vermin of the humanoids, much like Halflings.) Kobolds, while cute, work better in EQ as villans only.
Plus, I allways wondered just what the majority of the Splitpaw clan that escaped was doing. Sure, you see one in Blackburrow sometimes, and you sometimes find a stray one wandering around SK, but where are the rest of them? (And what are those wanderers in SK looking for?) Also, there's a couple of "civilized" gnolls in the game allready. It just seemed natural to me that they should be the next race.
That having been said, I am impressed with what I've seen for the new models for the Frogloks. I allways hated the looks of the old ones, but the new ones look much better. I might change my mind on them as I see and hear more about this. Still, I wish I could have seen that level of revamping done to the Gnoll models.
And I seriously doubt that the Froglok casters will flip when casting a spell. I expect they'll make the same gestures as everyone else.
And I still don't see where it states a live date. Are you looking at a different site than the one linked to on the first page of this thread?
