They were already gracious enough not to have one fucking shot from an AK47 through the heart kill you.

Edit: also know that the new riot shield is APPARENTLY thicker than a fucking reinforced concrete wall.

One-shot kills with an AK or M4 are completely different. Any dicksmack can run around kill somebody with the AWP, not to say that everybody who uses it is a dicksmack exactly. But if somebody runs into a room shooting an M4 around at folks, well, they aren't going to get many kills.

It takes skill to maintain a decent average with any "real" gun, but the AWP is just "point, shoot, die." All three of those processes are pretty easy compared to everything somebody has to do to be good with any other gun; recoil management, precise aiming, proper use of crouching without being a sitting duck, etc. You just know something's wrong when folks run around using the AWP as a close-quarters combat weapon instead of a sniper rifle, and you can't deny the problem in that.

The M4 and AK are the bread-and-butter of CS. The AWP is just cheap.

You'll get better. I'm still not that great and I can already maintain a fairly decent average against most players (DIE NWIST). Sometimes I just have bad days though.

Awp = 107 damage to the LEFT ARM means death.

That, is lame. Like a sniper rifle is going to fuck up my arm, or make it any more useless than a Deagle 50, or and Ak would.

Pinkie Toe? Dead.

Through the wall, and into my leg? Dead.

Thats why the AWP is lame. Tone it down to slightly more potent than the other sniper rifles, but just as accurate as it is now, and it'll be fine.

Now then, onto other weapons.

My choices... The AK, and M4, of course, The n00b Cannon (34|13 earlier, me happy) Elites, Scout, TMP.. all the underdog weapons. Because then you can laugh at the AWP whore you just long ranged with a candy ass weapon.

And the Knife. You wanna talk shit? Go play a KNIFE Whore instead.

You know, you all use these weird acronyms for weapons..

And each time I look into the rifles page of the buy screen, I don't see anything that shortens to "AWP".. So I usually end up buying the automatic.

And dying anyway.

Actually, I think I hurt people more when I'm trying NOT to hit them.
I headshotted someone with a pistol by firing over their head.

The Artic Warfare Magnum is the AWP. It's name was changed to this after beta, but players still call it the AWP.

edit: The old name I belive was the Artic Warfare Police

Yes, because "all weapon fire completely" doesn't include the AWP.

You are so funny.

Screw you.

Grammar is your enemy! - While being able to understand someone's sentences might seem like a good idea for a proper essay, complaining on a forum scarcely leaves time for such trivialities. Write fast! You're angry, grrr! Make that show, and forget about things like capital letters, punctuation, and verbs.

I killed Lash with a pump shottie when she got the jump on me with an auto-shottie.

Anyway, I like the scout because, unlike the AWP, it doesn't let everyone on the damn map know where you are. But Jesus, what's the point of that damn semi-auto sniper rifle? It has the accuracy of a machine gun.

I'm also a big TMP fan.

I don't know how to be sexy. If I catch a girl looking at me and our eyes lock, I panic and open mine wider. Then I lick my lips and rub my genitals. And mouth the words "You're dead."

The coolest new thing is the Tactical Riot Shield, which is for Counter-Terrorists only. By using secondary fire, you prop the shield in front of you. If you duck, you will completely cover the front of your body from any bullet-related danger. If you move, however, much of your body will be out of the shield's cover leaving you open to attack. You buy the shield under the equipment menu for $1,000. It will work with any pistol (although I didn't try it with the Dual Berettas) In the press test I was invited to, the shield wasn't used that often. It still has a lot of potential, though. We'll see how popular it is once the BETA begins on Thursday

Waitasecond. I thought it was changed so that an AWP hit on a non-vital area wasn't instantly fatal.
Once more into the breach, my friends, once more. We'll close the wall with our dead. In peace, nothing so becomes a man as modesty and humility, but when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with rage and lend the eye a terrible aspect.

Actually, most Class IV Riot Shields (and even Class IV ceramic plates for body armor) are rated to stop at least one round of 30.06 AP; I'm not versed in the ballistics of .338 Lap Mag, but I'm FAIRLY (not entirely) sure that a Class IV shield can stand up to a hit from one. If any of y'all happen across the ballistics for .338 Lap Mag, I'd be interested in seeing them.

While I'm quite sure there's more detailed information availiable than this...

Projectile Weight: 16.2 grams
Muzzle Velocity : 3000 feet/second
Muzzle Energy : 7000 joules

After doing some research, I've discovered that the ballistics of the 8.60x70 (.338 Lapua Magnum), loaded with a 250 grain bullet at 3000 feet per second (sweet jesus) simply blow those of the 7.62x63 (.30-06 Springfield) loaded with a 168 grain bullet at 2700 fps out of the water. (This seems to be one of the heavier loads offered in 7.62x63)

A few sample figures:

Energy (ft-lbs) at 100 yards:

.30-06 .338 Lapua
2350 4525 (!!)

Just to put that into perspective, here are the energies of the .50 BMG (12.7x99) at 1000 yards with an 800 grain bullet, muzzle velocity of 2650 feet per second, and the .338 Lapua discussed earlier.

.50 BMG .338 Lapua
7200 1682

Okay, so it doesn't help establish perspective, but it sure is interesting!

My tables fucked up. Darnit.
