The fact that you didn't read the FIRST REPLY means you are seriously drunk.

we started doing that whole f(x) thing a few days ago and it SCARES me. unfortunately, we've had a sub all week, because my teacher got married over Christmas Break, so i am like, forced to live in confusion until tomorrow because i refuse to ask a 22-year-old substitute if she can re-explain it when all she did was write down some examples and say, "do your assignment!!"

f ''''(x) of f(x)=x^4+204x^3+25x^2+90x-529

f(x)=x^4+204x^3+25x^2+90x-529

f'(x) = 4x^3+612x^2+50x+90

f''(x) = 12x^2+1224x+50

f'''(x) = 24x+1224

f''''(x) = 24

I hope you didn't think the answer was 1.

Well, I was doing the derivative of f(x), something you won't see until pre-cal.

The F(x) stuff is easy. What we are doing is pre-calc / calculus. All of calculus is derivites (well 90% of it).

F(x) stuff is best taught with an example

F(x) = 5x^3 + 2x^2 + x

So, let's say they give you an x value of 2. Therefore, wherever you see an 'x', you replace it with '2'.

F(2) = 5(2)^3 + 2(2)^2 + (2)

F(2) = 5(8) + 2(4) + 2

F(2) = 40 + 8 + 2

F(2) = 50

You will generally get an equation with three different values of x.
