In a game like, say FF. You gain a greater sense of accomplishment as you move through the levels and as you move through the game. You see FMV's at key points, you advance in the plot, you can look back and say 'wow, I've done a lot and gotten far.
In EQ, the sense of accomplishment seems missing. You advance in level, get new spells/armor/weapons... but everything is still exactly the same as it always has been. You never get the sense that you've impacted the world in any way, shape, or form.
DAoC is similar, but at least the RvR aspect makes it easier for you to feel like you're actually making a difference; the fights for keeps, the battles and struggles and the fact that power CAN shift for better or worse, does make it more lasting; of course, getting there is half the problem. Finding a group can be difficult at times, EXP'ing in DAoC is just as boring as in EQ... I want to like it but I haven't been able to sit through the early levels to give the RvR a try. Maybe I'll have better luck with my new Hunter, though I'm already enjoying him and his l337 spells and bow abilities.

o_O No, the closest are the vault quests where you just get a bit of tacky storyline told to you when you complete it..
Thats what I was getting at.
You wont have a fully immersive RPG for reasons stated in this thread. It wouldnt rake in the big bucks.
