I think the point, DragonDart, that Pesco and others are trying to make is that many of these groups don't want equality. They want to be superior. They take the fight for equal rights one step farther and want *everything*, regardless of what it takes away from others.

That's the sort of "equal rights" thinking that is bad.

You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.

Point to some random guy you think looks good and say "You. Date. Now." and odds are good he'll be complient.

Even moreso if you replace date with sex.

I don't know how to be sexy. If I catch a girl looking at me and our eyes lock, I panic and open mine wider. Then I lick my lips and rub my genitals. And mouth the words "You're dead."

But if that's their point, why tell minorities to "DEAL?" Why say that we just whine too much?

Yes, it can get to a point where feminists want to be superior to men, and I'm not saying that's right. But if we think that gay rights, and women's rights, and freedom of religion are just the government bowing to groups to insignificant to deserve it, then there's something fundamentally skewed with your perception of minorities.

We don't. I'm sure quite a few of us would agree that those issues are important. However, when they're expected to be more important than any other issue and people championing them think they can stomp all over the rights of others to get what they want, then there's a problem.

Yeah, I understand the value and inmportance of minority/Special Interest groups and the like.

The problem is when they cross the line of equality/their interests.

Things like Parent Organizations getting certain games banned because they don't want their child playing it.

Things like requiring broadcasting networks to give each of a certain minority a mandatory amount of air time, regardless of the network's demographic.

Things I start to have a problem with is college admissions letting in minorities over equal non-minority students, in order to fill some "minority quota". Don't think it happens? It does.

There are, of course, very serious issues that we need minority groups for, but let's face it, some of them go way overboard.

So don't assume we're all "straight, white, middle-class men" that just want minorities to "get over it."

Because I'm a bi-curious, Italian-American, Upper-class woman telling extreme minority groups to get over it.

Dad's going to kill you. Really. He is.

I didn't mean to imply that everyone here is male, middle class, and white. There are just a few posts in this thread that irked me. I agree that some things are just ridiculous, especially quotas. But you still can't just tell people to simply get over it. Some issues are very legitimate, and that's the point I was trying to make.

First of all.. let's take note that you don't have to be a woman to be a feminist.

Women are not equal. Neither are races for that matter. Women make 75% of income as white males annually, generally in equal level jobs.
- Yes, women do have many advantages. But those advantages are generally to avoid poverty. Single mothers can go on wellfare with ease (two of my teachers can if they wanted to. One feels a certain amount of dignity in not having to, the other is recently married and no longer qualifies.) But again, such governmental services are to avoid poverty due to the overwhelming amount of women who fall into the poverty threshold.

Now, let me explain the reason insurance is lower for women. Because studies have shown that (surprise) women are a lower risk than men on the road! Wow, that was a tough one.
- If you believe that women should have an equal insurance to men, then you should also believe that Failing students deserve the same grade as 3.0+ students.

Yeah, women have had to deal with a lot of shit up til' a decade ago. It's on the right track. No, I don't necessarily agree with a feminist extremist (and yes, these demands fall under extreme) group taking past injustices out on college sports.
- However, as per sports scholarships.. too many idiots make it in to colleges as is. ^.^ Sports scholarships just make it easier for some. (No, I am not saying all athletes are morons. However, having participated in activities with athletes at my school.. many are. )

I was unaware that minorities were Extremist Groups.

If you will take a second to note that I never once said "Black People" or "Women as a whole". I mentioned groups that take things to levels they shouldnt, and that they view of "equality" actually puts them in a superior position to others.

I am all about equal rights. I understand that it can never truly be achieved because we are all different. But I do know that it is possible to come close to it if people just live their lives. And I think we are close, and that organizations that set up to destory people just living their lives are an issue that needs to be resolved.

I thought such laws had been taken away, same thing with the employment. If any college is doing that it is to cater to a special interst group, of because the group might be provideing funding. It is as bad as some of the crap they pull on the military.

That these fem's are just out for pay back. They don't like that years ago some female on the earth did not have as much of an equal chance as a male to go out and have to work for a living, and do manual labor. Now a days guys get screwed over more then women do in about all forms of economical matters. A female will get hired instead of a equally qualified male because if she isn't she will claim sexist acts against her. Females pay less in taxes/insurance, and have recently I noticed, have recieved easier and less hectic working positions.

That last sentence.. BULLFUCKINGSHIT! Ive worked in positions that was tons more stressful than most of the guys around me. Ive worked with sales guys who put it on all the female's laps to deal with most of THEIR customer's problems. Ive been in a position where I was being underpaid and doing the job of three or four people. This bullshit of guys getting preferred over women on certain positions IS still active and out there. Ive seen it myself and no it wasnt for any job positions that I myself wanted.. its just the way things were run in that company. *shakes her head*

My solution? I quit *smirk* Ill find a job somewhere where I'll be happier. This is the way I see it.. corporate companies dont really care much for their employees these days.. unlike in the past.. you cant count on retiring with that company.. You dont give a crap bout me? I could give two shits less bout you. Its a good working agreement.

No I dont agree with extreme feminazi type things such as suing men or some crap cause they can pee standing up (bullshit reason to get pissy over).. Hell I dont agree with the same thing as below..
