People always say I'm not goth, until they meet me in person.
You're kinda like a younger brother with a fuzzy head and pointy ears....
Goth? Bah. You're just wearing black till they invent something darker.

Yes! Nothing is sexier than someone who's skin is so white it almost glows in the dark and who does nothing but whine about how much their life sucks.
A good portion of this board bitches and complains that their life sucks, and they are not goth.
You statement has been invalidated. Continue with the Delid reaming.

So automatically cause your a goth your all depressed and want to kill yourself? I happen to know several goths and happen to be a semi one myself and can tell you thats bullshit!
Yes some are very moody.. but not all... thats like saying all goths are witches... (which I have been told several times)
T's 2sense:
Thats like saying all skaters are druggies, all jocks use steriods, all cheerleaders are sluts and all nerds love Scully...

Hurray for Pasty Whiteness!

LeMiere impressed everyone with:
I spoke of physical attraction. Sexual attraction in and of itself is totally different!
riiiight.
Then my girlfriend showed up dressed goth-like (or is it gothy) on Saturday night at a costume party.
Yum.

There's a preconceived attitude, yes, and there are people that fit into that attitude, but most people I know, and quite a lot of the goth people I know don't want to be stereotypes. (actually having a shirt made up for me, "not a stereotype; find more original insults") That preconceived attitude, like pretty much every single one ever, is thought of as annoying. It's conveniently forgotten that goths are human and have their own personalities .

Please.
I didn't claim they were all identical automatons. Nor did I say there weren't individuals in the group I might like.
You know what, though? It wouldn't be a sub-culture if there wasn't a certain amount of conformity amongst them. That conformity is one of dress, one of theme, and one of social behaviors.
Whether we're talking corporate executives or military officers or athletes or librarians, the same is true: there are norms of behavior.
So certain people need to quit taking personal offense at what are general comments. I don't particularly care to hang out with the clergy, either, if it makes you feel better.

Yes, there's a style of dress, but from what I've found, there's a certain amount of... I don't know, more choice in entering that kind of subculture than there is in others. While a person at a school might feel pressured to fit in and dress like the others, I never really got that feel from goth. 'Course, it might just be where I live.
In the end, it's all about choice, and what you choose to be attractive.

Sorry 'bout that--it looked like you were reinforcing those who were getting all huffy.
It's not at all bad to hang out with people who share a common interest, but it's sort of silly to get offended when others dislike that interest.
