Will ToD and TotW be straight ports or will they be updated a little?

Supposedly updated, but I'm not really sure. They are only mentioned in passing, and in reference to Tales of Phantasia.
I'm just too much of a Metroid whore.

Can you bomb through walls and floors? Secret rooms? If so, how is the polygon breakup near the areas you can bomb through? Can you pick out the secret entrance by noticing the misaligned polygon? How linear is the gameplay?
How does the weapon system work? Like the SNES Metroid?
Is there a grappling beam?
How is aiming done?
Dare I ask, Spider Ball?
Do you find yourself in corridors a lot or more out in the open? If the latter how many "invisible barriers" are there preventing you from exploring?
I still say the space pirates and all the bosses I've seen look downright doofy.
Taking your questions from the top.
Bombing through floors and walls. Yes, you can do this, and no, it is not readily apparent what you can and can't bomb through. The best way to tell what you can bomb or shoot through is to use the scanner, or some common sense. No misaligned polygons here, like I said, the visuals are superb.
The gameplay is just about as linear as any other Metroid game so far. I've been wandering back and forth between several different areas right now, and there's plenty more wandering to do. It is not "Go here, get what you need, go here, etc..." At least not any moreso than in the other Metroids.
Weapon system... Well, that's hard to tell. So far, the only upgrade I've found is the Charge Beam. I'm near the ice beam, but I haven't gotten it yet, I'll get back to you.
Grappling beam, yes. And I find that it's been done very well. I still need to find it though, after my first one got destroyed. (Plot point, not wear and tear on the item)
Aiming is done by holding the R Button down, and moving the control stick around. There also a lock on feature, so you're not spending all of your time trying to follow one enemy around.
Yes, there is a spider ball, but it's not as all purpose as it was in the Gameboy Metroid. It's still there, they just changed how it's done a little bit.
There are corridors AND wide open areas. In the wide open areas, there are no invisible barriers. They nail you with plenty of regular, visible barriers though, just to tease you until you can get the suit upgrades you need to pass them.
And the space pirates and bosses are far from kiddie.

Verily, Faelynn LeAndris doth proclaim:
Evolution Worlds (Sequel, to a decent RPG)
Skies of Arcadia: Legends (Sequel)
Actually, both these games are basically DC ports with some extra stuff. Evolution Worlds is just Evolution 1 and 2, with a little more added in. Skies of Arcadia: Legends is a port with an extra character and more story added in.

"Ubi Soft is currently scheduled to publish its Evolution Worlds title in the third-quarter of 2002. The RPG is sequel to the two previous Dreamcast versions, Evolution: The World of Sacred Device and Evolution 2: Far Off Promise. The GameCube is the first and only console to get Evolution Worlds, a traditional style RPG includes a lot of dungeon crawling, treasure hunting, and turn-based enemy encounters."
The Skies of Arcadia: Legends is actually a title canceled on the PS2 in favor of the GameCube, although your assesment is mostly correct. It will include the original Skies of Arcadia as the first half of the game, but it includes a full second adventure with the additional character as well. Plus the original parts of it will be updated, and expunded apon.
Evolution Worlds however is a sequel. Only similarities are retaining the same characters, but all three of the games retain the same characters.

Nope, not a direct sequel, though I understand why you think that as that's what IGN called it. Gamespot's preview and information from importers have confirmed it is not a sequal, but a port.
On the Skies of Arcadia thing, while they are adding several hours to the gameplay they are definitely not *doubling* the size of the game.

Not from what Ubi Soft themselves have said in thier press releases. Even on thier sight it's stated to be.

"Evolution Worlds is the next episode in the epic adventure of heroes, Mag and Linear, from Evolution and Evolution 2."
Supposedly it is a compliation in style and gameplay of the first two. It also spans the world of the first two games, but has added quite a bit, with a different story.
The Eigth Empire is at it again, and tracing back information leading to the new form of Evolutia.
Skies of Arcadia reportedly added 40+ hours more game time.. If thats not damn near a whole new game.. I dunno what is.
I hit the mall today and took a long hard look at the GC game library available at Gamestop and EB, and weighed it against the cost of a system.
$140 is an awful lot for just one game.

Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is a pretty nice fighter. I enjoyed Robotech: Battlecry(Though it is multiplatform) very much. On the GameCube they made it look less cel-shaded.
I have Metroid Fusion too, but I haven't tried it yet.

Sorry, but there are some things you know will be there from the first minute of game play. Why and how, I won't say, but you know. Anyway, that's why some of us are forgetting to use the spoiler tags. There was no suprise to them, so we tend to forget. Actually, I will say.
