I agree wholeheartedly.

Just don't drive high, or you could kill someone else.
All the stoners I knew from school said they drove more carefully when they were high because they'll drive so slowly.
Go figure.

As far as smoking cigarettes goes I smoke. I dont care if you do. Just be nice about it. Dont light up around little kids. Try and go somewhere it wont bug someone. If you cant ask the people around you if they mind.
And people who dont smoke if you ever work somewhere that there is a designated smoking area, and a non smoking area just on the other side of the hall. Please do not go into the smoking area and complain about the smoke. Ive actually had that happen to me. This lady thought that just because they were cleaning the non smoking area that meant that all the people in the smoking area had to stop smoking for her. She pissed off a lot of people that day.
Personally when she said, "That smoke is bothering me." I just looked at her and said, "Bothering you its killing me!"
I really should quit.
Cigarettes taste like ass. Flavoured tobacco smells nice, but still tastes like ass. Menthols taste ok for a second, then continue to taste like ass.
Marajuna also doesn't taste particuarly nice, so I don't smoke it anymore, despite whatever jokes i may make. But it is the greatest smell in world.
If someone is stoned/drunk and cannot control themselves around my children, I will kill them.
If someone is stoned/drunk, and too fucking stupid to deal with the reality of a situation that puts me or my children at risk, I will kill them.
I do not threaten. I've done it before, and I'd do it again.
Wanna ruin thier own lives, or hurt themselves, be my guest, but keep it away from me. Khyron is right, I have bad habits of my own, drugs however, and drinking, is not one of them.
Even with the ones I have courtesy comes before personal comfort, as many here have met me can tell you. I will go off by myself, or mingle with the group who is similar. I do not smoke in my own house, I smoke outside on my porch, because I have little girls that mean to much to me. I don't smoke in crowded places, I do not smoke in other peoples houses, even if they are smokers. I go outside.
I take good care of myself, I maintain myself, my hygein is approvable. A lot of which can be said for very few of the pot smokers I have ever known. ( Not all, just few) as they have very little care or concern while they are doped out the ass. Respect and courtesy make all the difference in dangerous habits. I don't care what you do, to yourself or otherwise, as long as it never encroaches on me. Flame away.
And pre-emptively, towards the anti-smoking anti-pot nazi's: you can all collectively bend over, and get fucked up the ass with a big rubber dick. It's my choice to smoke, and you are entitled to not liking it, however, don't diss me because of it.
Thank you, drive thru.

Pot should be handled much like cigarettes are now, in our opinion. Decriminalize it, Legalize it and tax the hell out of it.
Hell, of the Grade 9-10's my mom teaches, she says the Pot smokers are usually the least rowdy of the bunch she has. (And she often has some pretty wild kids. She's been teaching for 30-some odd years now in that grade range, she has Seniority and She knows and the School knows the school would be a LOT worst off without her around, so she doesn't take any sh!t from anyone, but I digress)
That said, where you light up is another matter completely Personally, I'm of the opinion that you can do what you want in your own house/car whatever (just be safe doing it and don't put anyone else at risk). In public places, especially buildings/places where children can be present (including most restaurants, malls, movie theaters, playgrounds IMO, schools, etc....) I also fully believe that those vices should be banned or at least fairly heavily regulated. If you can't control where the dangers of your vice go (as in the case when smoking anything), then don't do it in those places.
In case you didn't notice, that means I fully support the intent of the Smoking laws in places like Kitchener/Waterloo, Ottawa, Fredericton, California, Toronto, etc.... I *really* notice a difference in my comfort level of a place when I go into say a Mall and not met with a wall of smoke from the smokers. Just a month or so ago I went to the Mayflower mall in Sydney, Cape Breton, and I was literally gagging at the smoke made even worst since all of the other environments I've been living in recently (Ottawa, California, Kitchener/Waterloo) have been smoke free environments, but I digress again.
That all said, I do want to add that thoguh I support all of those No-smoking laws, there is one area I would gladly support to see them eased up a bit... and that is the creation of effectively "Smoke Houses" ie bars/poolhalls/whatever where adults can gather and puff away or do whatever. Most of the No-smoking laws are very strict and are an outright ban on all Public places regardless of who goes there. If the rules were eased up to allow an age-restricted business (to keep minors out and not encourage their smoking.) to start up and allowing smoking, I'll fully support it. Maybe a Smoking License could be made much like you need a Liquor license for serving alcohol.
That said, on the final hand, the way I see it these laws were created (at least in a small part) so strict at first to give the Smoke free businesses a chance to start up/get settled in with their non-smoking clientle so that when/if Smoking Licenses are phased in, not every business will be rushing to get one right away.
Whew, babbled on longer than I expected. In quick summary:
1. Do whatever you want as long as it doesn't hurt others around you.
2. If you can't keep the side affects of your Vice to yourself, don't do it in public.
3. You hurt someone because you were under the effects of your vice, then the law should come down on you like a tonne of bricks. (Ok didn't really make that in my otherstatement but whater.
4. If a business owner wants to get a license to allow smokign in his business, he/she should be allowed to.
Damn this soapbox has gotten high... I'll shut up now.
The Government says that 400,000 people die each year from Smoking.
What they don't tell you is that they include anyone who died who smokes in this 400,000.
So that means that if someone died because of a Disease that has nothing to do with smoking, but if they smoked, then they are included in the 400,000 deaths.
In fact, only 50% of the 400,000 died from causes related to smoking.
Also, 50% of smokers live to the age of 65, or older. The average life expectancy for a docter is 57. So, smokers live to be older than Docters.
Taking this into consideration, it isn't as bad as the Government says, but I still neither smoke, nor support smoking.
But what you do is your own business.

I know I run into people smoking dope when I am on the freeway and they are doing 40 or slower. Those people need to be home watching cartoons and eating oreos...
When I smoke regular cigs (all day long ) I do that either in my room, outside, or in a designated smoking area. Like Fae, I take some measures to at least be a civilized smoker.
What bugs me though, is people who think they're somehow better than me because they -dont- smoke.
I've run into that attitude a few times on these here boards; and still my original comment stands. If you don't like it, fine - don't diss me. If you do, you can go fuck yourself in the ass with a big rubber dildo.

I support the legalization/regulation of pot. I beleive that pot is a good thing, just IN BLOODY MODERATION. I beleive ANYTHING is good in moderation, but tend to make people angry with my beleif that every single drug out there should be legalized, and regulated only so a) kids can't get it, and b) you won't be stoned in a public place. For many drugs, just doing them is it's own punishment. But I left the topic.
Yes, I smoke pot. But no, I don't smoke cigarettes because I don't get the point. They taste godawful. They smell godawful. The most a cigarette did for me was give me a brief headrush not dissimilar to standing up too fast when you're sick. Parents smoke, and it's not worth the hassle to me. However, I beleive smokers shouldn't be catching the hell they're catching. I agree with the recent laws to about the point of a seperate, fenced off and ventilated smoking section but THAT'S FUCKING IT!! I don't like people demonizing smokers, just like I don't like people demonizing drug users.
That is all.
