Some of you have restarted 3 or 4 times. We ALL started on the same playing field. Some of us read the starter guide and the FAQ first, and so those people DESERVE the advantage they might have. I, however, and many others, wasted a LOT of turns figuring out how to play the game(Before I finally ran out of turns, and wandered upon the guide). So? What do you do? Kill yourself and start again? NO!
Just wait for your next days turns and catch up. It's only one day. It won't mean much at all after a while in the game. If you don't know how to do something, you can either use your turns to figure it out, read the guide and FAQ, or(God Forbid) ask someone for help. But don't just fuck around and restart a half dozen times.
Rant brought to you by an_irritated_player001.

Pardon me for not liking FAQs. I learn better hands-on.
Edit: Oh yeah, you don't even have to use a turn to make the timer reset. Just load up a new page. [ 08-10-2002: Message edited by: Willias ]

Willias said this about your mom:
Arg, I haven't played for about 6 hours, and I still don't have any turns.
It's if anyone uses a turn or is online (not sure about the latter), the global timer is reset. Not just for them, but for everyone.

Yeah I know, and it is the latter, when ANYONE loads up any part of the site, the timer resets.

So quoth Willias:
Actually it's longer than two minutes.
Six minutes to be exact.
It's two. It's just that ALL timers reset when you load a page.
Let's say we put all 100M to making credits. At this rate, it takes 67 colonists to make one credit/turn. So, let's investigate.
quote:
100,000,000 colonists * 1 credit/67 colonists = 1492537 credits/turn * 30 turns/hour (1 turn/2 minutes) = 44776119 credits/hour * 24 hours/day = 1074626865 credits/day
quote:
1074626865(1 + 0.0005)^720 (30 turns/hour * 24 hours/day) = 1,540,155,722 credits
quote:
1,540,155,722(1 + 0.0005)^720 = 2,207,351,894 credits
Edit: Now let's add in the credits from the other two days worth of credit making. Day two brings in another 1074626865 by itself, bringing the day two total up to 2,614,782,587 (1,074,626,865 + 1,540,155,722) credits! Day three comes and we decide to stick all 2614782587 of it in the bank. So the day three interest equation changes to this.
quote:
2,614,782,587(1 + 0.0005)^720 = 3,747,507,616 credits

nem-x was listening to Cher while typing:
You know how long it would take to get 100million colonists on a planet?
It's certainly not impossible, and for the credits you could net in a week, it'd be a nice little operation.
Not to mention you don't have to limit yourself to one planet.
quote:
A sleep deprived Giantt stammered:
Except you have to set 10% to work Organics and 10% to work Energy for food and planetary defenses respectively, that'd work. It'd be a good bit less, but still massive money. Not to mention you don't have to limit yourself to one planet.
Well, we'll say 100M divided amongst two planets, then. It's a nice round number to work with. You just set one planet up to 100M with 80M credit makers and another with 20M credit makers and however many else other makers. It's a minimum of 24M people to get 80/10/10, but you could always have more.
So for this to work, you need 124M people. No biggie.

nem-x's fortune cookie read:
Self-destructing just gives you 0 of everything, but you still have the same ship.
Same number of turns as before destruction, too.

nem-x had this to say about Cuba:
I'd like turns to be given every few minutes instead of one big batch, that way we can play constantly.
There's really no difference.
You have 30 turns. You use them over a 60 minute period, playing constantly. You get 30 more turns. Rinse, repeat.
If you burn off the whole clump of turns real fast, then you can go and do something else. But if you take your time(which is EXACTLY what you're going to do if you get the turns gradually), you can play constantly. Really, it's the same either way.
Hence, I started over.

More would be cool though
