<Sarcasm>Really? I didn't know that</sarcasm>

that's not my point. It's needlessly complex and sure, it's not there but it's still getting power which measn it still might melt down or short out and still taking up space.

Provided the insurance claim works out, I may just do that.

Or I may get Ryuujin to come up from where he lives, and Ja Deth, and give em baseball bats and bust it up office-space style.

Screw that... Send it to me. I still have explosives from the 4th here...

Beep. Beep. Beep... Ohh... I think my porridge is done.
My fellow Americans, as you know, my foreign policy can be summed up in five words: "Iludium-236 Explosive Space Modulator."

Damnit, I'm drooling over that system I designed for Fal.

Don't drool over it too much... if you turned it on, it wouldn't last two seconds before it stopped working.

Let's see if anyone can figure out why it would only run for 2 seconds.

I was drooling over the specs of the video card until I remembered mine's basically the same card except it's a 4400.

Because there aren't any onboard hard disks?

disks are cheap these days though. I'd like to build a new system... actually I just need to get mine into shape, it's pretty decent, just not optimized.

That might be the only computer in history to work with Linux but not Windows. It can't possibly be completely dead. Have you tried installing a different version of Windows or using a different CD? Tried swapping in a hard drive that already has Windows installed? (might not be an option but worth a try if it is) There has to be a good reason why Windows won't install.

Heh, I wish I had access to Fal's computer. I'd spend a week trying to make it work before giving up. Such a nice system going to waste? I think not ;(

games.

And tier -- if the insurance companyt doesnt require us to send them the busted system, Im gonna screw around with it. Worse comes to worse, IVe got a linux box.

And if the Hard drives arent bad, Ill be sticking those in the new system

But Ive got a local tech taking a look at it now to tell me if it is bad and if so to put it into writing. if it isnt bad, he will be able to tell me what needs to be done to fix it. either way, i am win.

Do not buy an Alienware. They are one of the biggest Ripoffs on the market today.

While you're at it, don't buy Dell or Gateway. Both are just as big a rip off as Alienware, they just rip off a different crowd. Gateway will even sell you refurbished parts without telling you.

Build your own, or find an actual, respectable system vendor. The ONLY one I've found so far is ibuypower.com.

believe me I totally understand that... I was just joking.

I finally just forgot about making windows and Linux play nice together and bought a Sun Ultra 1 from anysystem.com... paid a whopping 190$ for a complete minus monitor working UNIX system. I hooked a monitor up to it once to configure it and create a user on it and now when I need it I just telnet to it through my router

I never used Linux/UNIX for the GUI anyway.

I'm disappointed in all of you.

The one thing overlooked from the specs was a fan/heatsink for the CPU.

Thank you, drive through.

doesn't that usually come with a CPU?

maybe not a fancy one for you weirdo overclockers but one usually does come already mounted.

I was figuring since the list didn't mention hard disks it would be pointless to even turn the damn thing on unless you really like BIOS messages... mine make me happy
