I have WC3. I want to get my butt kicked by cool people. So, how about 8 CST?

The fact that Blizzard counts on it's reputation to overprice War3 pisses me off. So I'm not getting it in a long time. Not like I'll be missing anything.

as long as you put spoiler in the thread title.

As for blizzard overpricing it? Maybe its a bit expensive, but really, think about it. Itll likely be one of the most pirated games of the year. Bliz has to make their money somehow.

Its a vicious circle. People pirate games. cost goes up. people pirate games because of higher cost, prices continually go up.

I highly doubt Bliz is doing it because of their reputation. Noone bitched when AO cost 55 dollars at release. Noone bitched when BG2 cost like 60 bucks at release.

Bliz isnt the only one to release a 55 dollars. But of course, people jump on em for it.

Didn't get AO

Only got BG2 when the price went down

Even with piracy, they'd make more than enough profit without the price raise

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piña coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

Since when was 55$ expensive, as far as games go?

$50-$60 seemed to be the normal for a long time.

Most likely Phantasy Star 4 for the Genesis.

Went for 99 when it was released

And yeah Dens. NWN was also 55 bucks.

I mean, reall. if 5 bucks keeps you from wanting to buy a game, somethin is wrong. If its a good game, 5 bucks makes all of no difference. If you werent gonna buy it anyway at 50, why use price as an excuse to not buy it?

War3 is $60... thing is, in Canadian $, with taxes, it breaks the $100 limit. It's just a symbolic thing, but it's also the only game so far that costs more than $100 by itself.

I'd rather have a PS2 than buy three War3s, thanks.

so if it were $99 canadian it would make a world of difference?

And if you had 3 warcraft 3's you would be a damn fool anyways because you spent 2/3rds of the money for a PS2.

Curious, how much was NWN canadian?

I'm in, going to be DEAD tired by then, but I'll give it a shot, heh

9pm Eastern I will be in channel Evercrest

I got the Collctor's Edition for 105 dollars Canadian

And it was worth it personally

25 bucks less for the garden variety

Higher prices? I consider the slightly higher prices to be my one time fee for Battle.net, the great service that it is, and free

I have no problem paying 10 dollars more so I can find games lag free and play

Oh well, back to War3

I'll be paying around 80-90$ US for my US Copy, because the only version I would be able to get for 60$ would be the censored german one with shitty voice acting.
Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

From the book of Lord Bane, chapter 3, verse 16:
why would it be censored?

Germany has a goverment agency that decides what games 'endanger youth'. Those games are put onto the so-called 'index'. All games that are on that index may not be openly sold, they may only be sold at direct customer request(you may not have a box on display for example), and only if the customer proves that he is 18+. It is also forbidden to talk about such materials in newspapers/magazines/whatever.

Seeing as anything that contains blood/gore/sex in any amount is put onto the index, companies censor the german versions of their games (and have some international versions auto-censor themselves if they detect a German OS or a system clock set to GMT +1 Time) to avoid loosing sales. German Red Alert had robots instead of soldiers for example, german carmageddon had bots instead of humans, GTA 3 automatically disables blood and death sounds if you install it in Germany (or Austria for that matter, although there are no such laws here).

This is why someone who wants to run over small pixlated soldiers with tanks in German-speaking Europe has to either warez Games, or pay horrendous import fees, set their system clocks nine hours back, change their language settings and download bloodpatches of witch 60% don't even work properly.

/whine off.

West or east, it matters not.

Your hosting the game only depends on your connection Blizzard just finds the people to play with on BNet, your comp hosts the game as if it were an IP game
