D© had this to say about Knight Rider:
So "Mieky's Gal Pal" making an opening post like that, after she was warned not to, just to piss us off isn't trolling?
Actually, isn't doing something with the sole purpose of provoking a negative reaction from people for the sake of one's own entertainment the very definition of trolling? [ 06-21-2002: Message edited by: Modrakien ]

I'm just checking with Lyinar.
She's the be-all end-all of this sort of thing.
Mikey's Gal Pal can post however she wants. And our acceptance of that isn't an issue of conforming, but the ideal of Banfest: tolerance. I think a lot of people in this thread need to learn just what having tolerance entails.
[Edit]And no, Drysart is the be-all end-all on the issue. I've already asked him to have a look at this thread and see what he decides on things. [ 06-21-2002: Message edited by: Lyinar Ka`Bael ]

HAHAHAHAHA GO BK GO!!!! She only did it becuase I told her not to. I told how you guys gave me greif when I did that.HAHAHAHA
I'll quote it again.
She only did it becuase I told her not to.
And if you haven't noticed, she hasn't typed like that since.
Bothers me more that Vixen had to warn her against typing a certain way at all. That you're all so uptight about grammar and spelling and punctuation you nail anyone to the wall who doesn't measure up to your exacting standards.

There's also a difference between grammar-and-typo whoring and flaming people who insist on using Alternating Caps and d00d shorthand.
wHeN yOu TyPe LikE tHiS, I gUaRaNtEe eVeRyOnE wIlL CaLl yOu ReTaRdEd.
There is a difference between doing the cracker talk, shown above, and not being a good speller.
Hell, even my grammar isn't the best in the world, but it's not picked apart by anyone but Bloodsage.
However if I tried to enter this wedding, and when refused entry or asked to dress accordingly, responded with 'Baahaahaa, I just came in here naked because I knew you people would get pissed at me, damn, ain't I cool?', the consequences wouldn't be all that pleasant.
Period.
And no, Lash, I don't want to see people banned. Be a stupid thing to be banned over. But intolerance *is* part of Banfest, and I would fully agree that Drysart was in his bounds if he did ban for it.

ACES! Another post by Lyinar Ka`Bael:
So respond politely back, D. Try to induct the person into the community by giving them a heads up about what they might be doing wrong. Don't just instantly jump all over them for it.
She did it on purpose because she was warned by a friend not to do it.
Is it that hard to understand?

I haven't found this to be true at all, my spelling and grammar downright stink, seeing as I learned English from Books, TV and the Internet, I am yet to be flamed for it. You see, the thing is, I at least try to make my posts legible, I don't +4||<><3 +|/|15="" with="" the="" intent="" of="" annoying="" the="" rest="" of="" the="">3> [ 06-21-2002: Message edited by: Modrakien ]

Gikkwiny probably says this to all the girls:
Ya know, I only told her that we can't be expected to conform to her AFTER she flamed mort, telling him to "get out of her thread."Period.
Why can't MGP tell someone that? Should MGP *have* to take abuse in her own thread? All she did was post in a way different than other people. And instead of trying to *help* her, people just jumped on the usual flaming bandwagon and put her on the defensive. IMHO, we should try to be a hell of a lot more polite to newbies than crap like that.

Shit! You're better at English than most of the kids my age with 14 years of the language!
Red Vixen basically had a flaming brand plunged into nether regions because her name was typed funny. She didn't type her messages like that... it was only her name. I'd be a little miffed too if, say, I got gangbeaten because no one can pronounce mine.
She talks to friends about said flaming brand rape, friends shake head and sigh.
One friend decides to come here anyway because, hey, we might be fun people anyway. Makes a joking first post on account of said flaming brand rape.
Friend gets pelted with lavaballs.
Eis' Diagnosis: Let the matter rest and see how she conducts herself from now on. If her messages are unreadable, action probably will be taken. If all's well, well, no real problem.
Btw, how *do* you pronounce that?

This is the problem I had with her style. She know how to post and how not to post. She posted in a manner she knew would provoke a negative reaction from most of the boards.
Had she not known, that would have been a different matter. The problem I have is not the way in which she posted, but the fact that she did so despite, or probably even because of the fact that such a post would annoy a lot of members of this board.
If she had been out to make friends here, she would have made an effort to leave a good impression through her first post instead of doing the exact opposite.
