Elf Fighter/thief or Dwarf Fighter here... I may go for Arcane Archer on the elf if they have prestige classes...

Or when you're fighting giants or orcs, then I bet you'd want the dwarf's combat bonuses.

Go with the nothing.. last I read you can't import BG2 chars.. That was dropped since it was a PITA to work on a standard of conversion from the bastardized 2e rules of BG2 and TOB into real 3e rules.
