I find friendly, helpful, and polite to be their own rewards.
Well, most of what I could say here has already been said, I'm siding with the majority here. Bloodsage hardly to be the kind fo person who would come here soley for arguments. He takes part in just as much of the light-hearted stuff as anyone else, and while he does take part in plenty of flamewars, he also takes part in plenty of reasonable debates and exchanges of ideas. I can't imagine why he would do all that if he only wanted to flame people. [ 05-01-2002: Message edited by: Chalesm ]

Actually... I thought alot of people argued on these boards because they get a kick out of it. Flame wars are quite entertaining.

I'd hardly say you're forgotten. Who could forget the old D&D expert?
I think you've misunderstood the condition of the boards if you think you've been forgotten because of being a nice guy. There's hardly reason to think it's gotten that bad. Just because you're not mentioned by name doesn't mean people don't know who you are. Yes, you haven't been posting as much in recent months as you have the the past, and so you may not be as far in the limelight as you once were, but it's not how "famous" you are here that matters, it how much you can enjoy interacting with others.
If you've grown tired of feeling unnoticed, why don't you try coming at the boards with a new attitude, either under the same name, or under a different name. From what I remember, you've always been incredibly good at creating new characters and playing under different personalities. Perhaps a little versatility of character, even if eveyrone knows it's you, will help make the boards more entertaining, both for us and for you.
Of course, this is all just a light suggestion. I thought that I've detected some real bitterness towards the board in what you've been talking about here, and though I could be totally off base, perhaps a change of pace could change that. [ 05-01-2002: Message edited by: Chalesm ]

Those who remember the old Whineplay may back your argument out one step, and say the behavior merely carried over. They would be wrong, too.

*shudder*
besides without the high quality bloodsage brand flaming we might have to put up with low quality off brand flames

So this is, what, you not feeling the love from the EC community and you figure negative strokes are better than no strokes at all? Wa-fuckin'-hoo. I could write a book about not being appreciated for the things I've done for people in the past. Doesn't mean I go taking shots at them. I just don't deal with people like that any more. I feel that my last unit in the Air Force didn't particularly give a rat's ass about me. I didn't make a stink about it. When my time came I simply told them "It's been real, it's been fun...you can figure out the rest" and took my leave. And I haven't been back to an Air Force base in the 4 years since.

Sorry, that's not possible, because you're not the center of existance.
Now, here's a placebo though:
Get a webspace.
Get UBB.
Upload UBB to the webspace.
Create twenty or so accounts (you can, for the best effect, have them mimic the names of prominent EC posters)
Create a color scheme and smilie/icon template to match EC.
Name your boards "EverCrest Message Forums"
Now, have all twenty accounts engage in a discussion on why Murdoc is so totally awesome, nice, cool and wise.
Hope that helps. [ 05-01-2002: Message edited by: Za'Yth ]

Much like what I have come to expect from Murdoc.
At least now I know when I want attention, I can just post, in essence: "BS sux" with a lot of loopy wording and everyone will love me!

For all the dumb stuff there, it was a fun place to be.
Flameplay was like... The Western Frontier. It was savage and often brutal and lawless, with small bits of enjoyment (Um.. Saloons are enjoyable threads, I guess...) here and there. But you had to watch what you did, and what you said, and you had to defend your honor and your goals....
EC is like a developed city. It is, for the most part, reasonably stable with it's nice pleasant suburbs (peaceful, happy-fun threads), Expensive Highrises (Uh, really intelligent or constructive threads?), and then bits and pieces of dirty urban sprawl (gang violence = flame wars?)...
Or something... I don't know, Analogies are weird...
It was fun, and I enjoyed reading it, verbally sparring with other people in Class Balance Threads. It had a lot of idiots, but I mostly skipped their posts. There were a lot of great Class Balance Fighters, like Grimstaff for one (and that Cleric guy who's name had "Axe" in it... Darn, Forgot...). After awhile, I'm not even sure if we actually cared about balancing classes or if it was just an idle debate topic.
Besides that, there were great people who posted for the sake of posting (like, OMG, at EC!). JooJooFlop is a pretty cool guy from Flameplay, . Snoota's just a freak, (Lub joo, bebe).
The whole Groller/Snoota Kult thing (which was, actually, started by Semp ) was pretty funny. I think Bloodsage was dubbed Groller's bodyguard after stomping a few of those "OMG, No Funny here! This is a SERIOUS discussion board, we want whining, not humor!" people.
Once again, I'm not sure if what I'm saying makes any sense, and my train of thought may have had a few pennies on the track and is probably more chaotic than Downtown Traffic...

Eep?
*is left sitting in the middle of the thread, ruffled and confused*
That was... Hrm... Interesting. I think I liked it?
The one thing he really does well at, I think, is he doesn't hold grudges. Either that or his memory is going. In both cases, he doesn't hound (Get it?) the people he called "fuckchops" or "asshats" four threads ago. He's very cool about letting stuff go after the argument.
Thats about all I have too add.
Most of the reason he's involved in flamewars is because people expect it of him. I mean, he could say: "I like grapefruit" and 20 minutes later, the fingers would all be pointed at him.
Not trying to make Bloodsage the victim here, by any means (I think we all have a difficult time of thinking of Bloodsage as a victim). It's just that most people attack without a second thought because, hey, it's Bloodsage.
I win.
