Remember this from Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers:
"I hate high places!"
"Just wait until we hit the low ones!"
I'd have to say my biggest fear is not being taken seriously. Which is probably why I get so defensive when people imply I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm working on it... as much as I don't care much what other peoples opinions of me are, it really bothers me when people have a lower estimation of my intelligence than I think they should have. I'm trying to get to the point where it's enough for me to know what I know, instead of having to prove to other people that I know it.
Wow, this is as personal as I've ever been on this board... and as personal as I ever will be. Which means I've confronted another fear high up on my list, fear of personal revelations. [ 02-08-2002: Message edited by: Troodon ]
-Deep ocean.
-Dying alone or not having done anything.

Who wrote that? I know I know it, I've read it somewhere, just don't remember where.... wanna say it's robert frost or something... but I really can't remember.
Frank Herbert, that's from Dune.
2. Being alone. I live with my mom now, and if anything happened to her, I don;t know WHAT I'd do.

Mightion Defensor wrote, obviously thinking too hard:
1. Losing my vision. My eyes are healthy, except for the fact I need strong glasses, but the thought of being blind is intolerable to me. You'd have to put me down.
Personally I'd be more afraid of losing my hearing than my vision, but that's just me. I'd rather be blind than deaf, the thought of not being able to hear music bothers me more than being unable to see things. I'm sure others would feel differently, but to me hearing's the one sense I'd least like to lose.

That is the Litany Against Fear from Dune. Frank Herbert wrote it, and chanting it does actually work.
quote:
Solstyce had this to say about dark elf butts:
Atheism. I'm serious. The thought that humans are pretty much worthless and pointless and that there's nothing to look forward to isn't just depressing, it's downright SCARY.
I find athiesm quite liberating really. None of the controlling restrictions for the prospect of getting into paradise, nor the fear of eternal pain and suffering in a hell. One can make one's own purpose in life, and know that they are a part of the universe, and what you do, no matter how small and insignificant, effects part of the universe in some way forevermore; Chaos theory. Nor is there fate. One controls the path of one's own existance. Very liberating indeed. Anyway, my greatest fear is regret. [ 02-09-2002: Message edited by: Pvednes Phoenixfeather ]

Frank Herbert - Dune
I am afraid of spiders.
While I love heights, and think falling from a great height would be fun, I fear hitting the ground afterwards.
But thought of of nothing...an eternal nothing...no sound...no sight...no touch...not even dreams. A complete...emptiness. It terrifies me. *shiver* I'm cold now just by talking about it.

That's it! I knew I'd remembered it from something, I just haven't read Dune in like four or five years =P
