We once prank called him and asked him if he, or anyone in his house, was a bisexual (in an English accent).
He didn't find it funny.
So now, we call him the Brisexual.
As for my name, I don't really care. I've been called a lot of things, and "Sammy" doesn't really get under my skin. Nae once called me "Prairie Dog Boy".

Probably more than once.
I am Queen of the Pet-Name. I think it's some sort of genetic trait. My dad does it, and I do it too.
Where I differ from my dad though, is if I find out something I call someone bothers them, I stop. Dad uses it to taunt people and "build character". He says he only teases people he likes. But some people just hate being called something other than their name.
I once knew a gal who's son was named Daniel. She absolutely hated teachers or anyone else to call him anything other than Daniel. It was hard for me, because I was so used to Danny and Dan from other friends over the years. Daniel just seemed formal to me, like my name Pamela.

I have worked in customer service before and I knew several people who did not use thier real name when answering the phone.
Use Phil or Roger.
But seriously I understand. He should have at least asked if he could call you Bri instead of MR Shiney Bucket head.
Not wanting to be called by a nickname is a perfectly reasonable thing AT WORK. Since we know that Mightion wouldn't be talking to A CUSTOMER at HOME, we can assume that he's AT WORK.
I use Kel for a variety of reasons, the main one being that I got sick of being called 'Carol' or 'Cholera'... everyone can pronounce Kel, there are no issues with it being used. When someone refers to me as 'kel' rather than stumbling through my full name or some idiotic derivative thereof, I know that I've dealt with them before. But I STILL answered my work phone with my full name. It's about professional respect. I won't answer to 'kelly'. It's not my name. It's not a shortened version of my name, and it annoys me when people try to use it. I don't answer to it, not because I'm being difficult, but simply because there are so many 'kelly/kellie/kelli'-s in the world that I assume you MUST be talking to one of them.
So, I think that mightion has every RIGHT to be called Brian at work. The customer was being rude, and if they were so intellectually challenged as to not recognise that, they probably couldn't follow simple directions anyway, and hanging up on them would have had no impact on their life. Piss off, Parcelan.

It takes a lot of faction work for me to accept being called by a nickname. That nameless (and brainless) customer hadn't done ANY, that's why it bothered me...
I thought your name was Bridget or Brianna or something. Heh, my bad.
i just ignore everything else
Dunno, I have lots of names. Sometimes I don't catch on to new names people give me very fast, so sometimes I don't get why people call me some things. As for people shortening names: all they are trying to do is make sentences shorter and make speech a bit easier.

Kinda bothers me...
Doesnt it sound dumb?
Now I don't mind as much.

*smiles* However, unless a person calls themself it first, I never abbreviate a name. Especially in games. I had a friend with a 4 letter character name and people would still shorten it and call him by the 1st 2 letters. To me it's just a sign of disrespect and lazyness. In text or in speaking it takes no more effort to get out another few letters. *gets off soap box*
But alot of people just call me by my last name.... Jones
I get a kick out of being the only person talked to as 'Mr. <insert last name here>' while everything else is on a first name basis.
Odd, no?
I had people on my lines call me Candy before. I hate that name, and I specifically answered the phone as Candace. It's very rude, and I have to resist the urge to either chew them out for it or hang up on them.
Of course, most morons don't even listen enough to realize I said "Candace". I've been called Sandra, Janice, Kim, Nicole, Kansas, *Courtney* and all manner of other things. I just want to yell at the person "Candace, you gene pool reject! I said Candace!"
But, of course, that's not good customer service. Customer's always right all that jazz. It really really annoys me, though.

(Tamantha is a bit too... pretentious I think.. also sound like my folks meant Samantha, but made a typo...)
Having said that though, I can understand folks getting angry when strangers use nicknames (like "Bri" for Mightion, or "Candy" for Lyinar). I mean it takes ZERO extra time to address the customer service rep by their full name that was given. it is only common courtesy (then again, not many folks recognise that, so maybe instead of it being common, it should be rare??)
Afterall, customers get so shitty when you start calling them "bub", "mate", "dude", "bro", "buddy", "pal" ,etc.. Every one of them will shout at you "Use my real name dammit!" if you do...
Times like that I wish I could reply with "Certainly... if you remember to use mine..."
Unique names are nice!

"Tamantha" is a very unique name... I'd never heard of it before. You certainly don't seem like a pretentious person.
But, I'd call ya Tammy if that's what you'd want... if I could stop calling you by "Abbigail" first.
I've usually almost always been called Matt, Matty, Bajah, Baj, Hatter, and "Hey you."
So, go with what works. It's hard to get a 'rise' out of me just by altering my name. Now, treat someone like dirt in my general vicinity and that's your ass. I don't care what you call me, because I won't understand it anyway. It's hard to enunciate with a mouthful of broken teeth.

I get called a few things...Matt, Matthew, Brat(in guild chat and RL), Wench(same friend that calls me Brat in RL), bitch, buddy(next comes the RL begging), hey you with the gun, that fucker that cut me off(he didn't think I could hear him, but I let him know I did )...the list goes on. If the person is facing me I respond to almost anything. How I respond depends on what they say.
