They're not stupid actually. Lets look at this.
That cat has an ancestry from some sort of wild cat. Along the line, some human found some kittens and made them their pet. Those kittens were raised with humans and then bred over and over for desirable traits. Alot of in breeding can occur when you do that.
Inbreed humans alot, you'll get the same effect.

And the proper way to gain faction without loosing it somewhere else is to quest, not kill specific things again and again. 
Shame on you, you're using a board exploit, Abashi could nerf you for that. Go see if Pesco has a quest or something, you seem to have high factions with him, at least.
