Two words:

Uh Oh....

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piña coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

I am indifferent, I have no money usually, so I can't change mine, have someone elses changed, or protect mine.

I like the idea.....I will no longer have the title of sexist. But you should include a way that is hard to miss that will tell other people that their title is locked.

The automated interface that you use to change someone's title will let you know if you're after someone who has a locked title.

I'm also considering switching the pricing around a bit:

$5 to change your own title. Paid subscribers may or may not get this as part of their subscription (not sure yet).

$25 to change someone else's title.

$25 to lock your title (this doesn't include a title change).

A lot of people are expecting trouble, but at $20 or $25 a pop, I don't expect a flood of people having their titles changed under them. (Though if there IS, that means I may be able to eat something other than Ramen noodles for a change )

What I find odd is that anyone would want to change thier own title. I kinda like the title thing being other-imposed. It's a kind of subtle way for folks in power to tell you what they think of you without being overtly mean.

If you really want to have enough money to stop eating Ramen, then tell us this:

How much to change YOUR title?

But...but... Ramen noodles are YUMMY!

Cept if you get the yucky beef kind.

it would make me feel good if someone cared enough about me to spend 20 bucks just to change my title.

Good or bad, at least I made enough of an impact on them for them to want to do it.

The 'change your own title' option has appeal.

The 'change someone else's title' option raises alarm bells like mad. Yeah, it's revenue, but where people have power, people abuse it. And an inappropriate title may not be allowed, but there are many, many more subtle ways to be offensive.

Besides, you give players the ability to PK, they use it. It can be used for good RP purposes, or it can be abused, creating Grief players. You give people the ability to change titles, and it can be used, and probably will be abused.

I know that the revenue it would generate would help with the costs of this board, and the comic... but even so, it still sounds like a bad idea to me.
