Well it's mostly PC gamer rage at not having their normal texture and graphical superiority over consoles, but texture pop is a real problem and the textures themselves are a massive step back from (for example) Doom 3 which had amazing texturing.

When you buy ID, you're expecting a hackneyed, predictable and boring shooter but with stunning visuals and spectacular, inspired art.

RAGE is basically exactly that, but without the stunning visuals and so forth.
