Er...it's just a toggle switch above the rearview.

Although the smaller gauge left of the tachometer on the steering column is the "openometer," which measures hours and minutes and seconds driven with the top down. Really.

Hrmm. I saw a picture of a Mini where the button had a flip cover on it that said "Do you really need to close the top? Yeah. we thought not".

Maybe that's on US only models?

Very nice, 'Sage.

My next car is gonna be a new VW Golf this fall. I don't know if it will be a 2.5, a TDI, or a GTI (hopefully the class-action suit from my last job will be out of arbitration before then), but I do know it will be Tornado Red with a sunroof.

Ah, a mini. Over-hyped and over-priced, but still a good car. Especially for parking and city driving.

The steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Might've been an older model; mine's US spec.

I wondered about that when I saw the front side marker lights, and I was thinking "Is that US-spec? Since when do they need side marker lights in Germany?"

There's also the Euro-plate attached to what looks like a US-plate holder, that I just noticed.

Nice little car.

No American car company makes anything I want to drive, any more. Even the one that isn't going to go bankrupt, or the one that has to merge with Fiat.

If you want to go around corners, don't buy an American car.

If you want to get more than 10 miles on a single tank, don't buy an American car.

If you want to have an interior that isn't made from wobbly cheap plastic, don't buy an American car.

If you want bodywork that isn't low grade steel and won't rust immediately, don't buy an american car.

Fuck.. just don't buy an American car.

I know you're joking and being edgy, but Japanese sportscars are also horrific. The engines are nice, but the bodies are horrible.

Wait.. if you got a Japanese engine/gears/suspension and put it in an American musclecar body..

I have no idea what a matrix is.

Japanese cars are an American obsession. Very few people bother with them here.

Japanese cars don't matter, except for having good fuel economy for size such as my Civic which can fit four people and still drive like 600 miles on one tank

Oddly enough, the guy who sold it to me said the first several folks to buy the new cabrio were Colonels....

BMW has a program for servicemembers stationed overseas where they'll ship the car back to the US free, so no worries there.

Huh.. I hope it's a newer model.

I just finished watching a recent episode of BBC's Watchdog and apparently the power steering on slightly older models (2001 until recent) can fail and even burst into flames.
