I have been attacked by trojans and bloodhounds-viruses, that is. In any case, can anyone point me in the direction of some way I can manually rid my system of this menace, or should I just reformat and have done with it all?

reformatting is the safe way and it'll probably take less time

So, other than multi-boot, what's the point of partitioning these days?

Having separate partitions for OS and data can come in handy when reinstalling or upgrading, and can make things easier to back up. Just point your backup solution at the whole data drive and you're done, no need to worry about whitelist/blacklisting things.
