See, I really enjoyed this trailer. Apparently it didn't do much for a lot of folks, though

It was very understated and menacing.

Not DBZ enough for the average WoW player, I guess. Maybe they'd like it better if it featured Arthas flying off a motorcycle and jump kicking a dwarf in bullet time while drinking a mountain dew.

Pretty much. I did lol at that though.

That was actually a damn good trailer.

People were just expecting the same multiple-battle scenes from the TBC trailer; culminating with Illidan jumping up and yelling: "YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!"

Instead we get some lore, Arthas looking over his undead army, and a frost wyrm coming out of the ground. I was personally hoping to have some scene or reference to when Illidan and Arthas fought; and who won.

Not saying the trailer is terrible,it's just not what everyone was expecting after the first expansion.

Being released at about the same time as the superior Warhammer trailer didn't help.

More like the Warhammer trailer came out the day before the WotLK trailer.

Was there a another Warhammer trailer or did I miss the WotLK for a long time

There was one released about two years ago. A new cinematic trailer was released just recently.

I just thought I remembered seeing that trailer way before the Lich King trailer. Huh.

People are disgruntled because the cinematic had no players in it. I thought it rather appropriate, though, since players are the least important part of WoW.

huhuhuh

maybe if PVP players weren't so important to them then PVE would stop getting fucked so hard

Arthas is easily Blizzard's best character. Everything they do with him is gold.

Which I guess is way I feel sort of cross over the prospect of a bunch of hooting, stat-mongering jackholes killing him and looting Frostmourne.
WC Lore: Serious Business

EDIT: But on the other hand, I understand why some players are irritated that no PC-stand-ins were included in the trailer. This is the CG equivalent of a dungeon master verbosely describing his NPCs doing something amazing while the players are made to sit and listen quietly.

Well, it... it's not a perfect metaphor.

You've basically hit the problem: they don't know whether they want to keep PvP or PvE.

With WAR coming out, I think they'd be better off just scrapping PvP altogether.

I only ever used PvP to get a Merciless Gladiator's Salvation for my healer and a Gavel for my ex girlfriend's Prot Paladin.

Well, other than playing on Akama when it was a brand new server with Sean, Rosa, and I think Ferret. That was the most fun I had ever had in WoW.

My rogue only used PvP to get S2 swords. I tried the whole druid arena thing for a while, but I'm really not into the honor grind

It's a shame when a game's real appeal is the fun you can have with friends in it, rather than the actual game itself.
