Looks like Ben Stein pulled a Michael Moore

Site is basically a laundry list of easily refuted distortions and myths presented in the Intelligent Design documentary by the otherwise sane Ben Stein.

I wanted to go see this movie so I could do just this, but someone beat me to it. I'm glad, it's a lot of work

Expelled has merit in that it demonstrates that Ben Stein is a shitcock.

So wait, is expelled for or against ID?

Expelled makes the case that there is an elaborate conspiracy of atheist scientists trying to keep discussion of intelligent design out of mainstream science.

There's something deeply offensive about ID proponents.

I think it's the way that they try to fit God into the scope of science by trying to thrust Him in there against all sense.

I heard the movie was one giant Godwin.

Hitler => atheist (not even true, really) => believed in master race => this derives from Darwin's survival of the fittest (it doesn't) => thus Holocaust is the fault of evolution education.

When anyone contends there is an elaborate conspiracy, are they generally EVER right?

During my time at university I talked to a physicist and biologist who were their whole lifes atheists (they were around 50). Both said that the closer and longer they looked at things they started to wonder. They didn't outright say 'god did it', but in their opinion alot of things fell into place much to nicely to be an accident.

Now I am not saying that they were right (I'm still agnostic), but that if you spend a long time with science, it might change your views into a different direction than you might have anticipated.

They've probably flirted with the notion, and upon superficial examination, have found its implications too frightening or upsetting to revisit.

All things serve a purpose.

For example, without God, there would be no religious people, and henceforth, no one for atheist douchebags to feel smug towards.

No, you're right, your point was that despite claiming to be men of science, they are ignoring logic and "thinking with their heart," and you think that is understandable because holy crap if some things hadn't happened in a specific order then we wouldn't be here and that must mean that something must have pushed those things to have happened.

No system's complexity, regardless of the amount or depth of complexity, is irrefutable evidence of the existence of something that designed it. Other things can prove the existence of a maker, but remarkable complexity is not one of them.

Thrice shall I declare my devotion and apologies to the Lord for tainting his skies with the smoke I shall erect. First, I shall cast Maradon upon the mountain of faggots I have erected upon his sinful earth and watch his body giggle in cracking, smoking chorus and reach to the sky with smoky fingers, seeking the redemption of a God whose ears have long been deaf to his pleas. Thereafter, when I have taken his ability to feel pain as a final show of mercy on behalf of God, I shall crack open every bone and feed the fire his marrow so that he may finally be pure in those final wisps drifting up to mingle with the halos of angels.

And may God grant me the patience to restrain myself at breaking Karnaj's fingers to the end that his wretched fingers might finally cease their variety of probing, prodding, penning blasphemies. But I shall not take his eyes or his mouth, so that he may see my wrath and sing the chorus of my fury when my divine work is done.

Understand that this is my mercy for you.

This is just proof of how truly effective the elaborate conspiracies are.

And while most may be easily debunked by an application of simple logic and Occam's Razor, who is to say that *this* might be the one, true, elaborate conspiracy hiding among the myriad red herrings that have littered history, as a way to ensure that no one in their right minds would believe that this is actually a conspiracy?
