Kevin Rudd and Labor wins--Coalition loses, with John Howard losing his seat.

We're going to miss him.

Is "labor" a code word for communist in Australia, too?

I've been following news of the Howard government's "interventionist" policies in the Northern Territory for a while now, and frankly, a lot of people (myself included) will see his loss as a hopeful sign for self-determination among Australia's indigenous people.

So you'd prefer they continue with such disgustingly high levels of pedophilia and substance abuse?

All the Aboriginals need to do to achieve self-determination is to bloody well take responsibility for their own lives, and as such stop their campaign of autogenocide.

The intervention effort has bipartisan support--we can either intervene, or we can let them die.

The issue that lost the Coalition the election is industrial relations--the WorkChoices scheme did not sit well with the majority, (despite being really quite a good idea) and so lost them the election. There's precedent for it as well--Stanley Bruce lost both the prime-ministership and his own seat in 1929 for exactly the same reason. The only Prime Minister aside from John Howard to ever do so.

Also, Peter Costello is so gutless! He's been waiting for a chance at the leadership of the Liberal party for over 11 years, and now that he has the chance he's dropped it just because he's frightened of being in Opposition.

And now you've got Peter (Midnight Oil) Garrett in the government.

God help you all.

He needs to get back into the studio straight away and make a follow up to "Diesel and Dust".

The thing is though, a rock star minister is popular. It's sort of like Arnold, except hippies.
