IN THE FORM OF A RONDO OF BLOOD + SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT REMAKE

This had better be the final straw for you guys that haven't bought one yet.

I admit, I want it badly.

It'll be emulated soon enough.

I wonder if they'll include the stuff that was cut out of the American version of SotN?
I believe in the existance of magic, not because I have seen proof of its existance, but because I refuse to live in a world where it does not exist.

SoTN, at least, is coming to X-Box 360 live arcade.

Honestly, I don't care too much about the SotN part as I already have that for PSP.

Rondo of Blood being there in both the original PC Engine version and the new remake is what got me all excited.

The final straw for me buying a PSP is when it's $100.

The redesign for Richter is uerg. Ayame Kojima needs to quit animeifying everything and go back to the awesome art style she used to do.

Otherwise, looks pretty good.

The guys on the 1up Show were saying that they, uh, de-animeyified this game. They showed the original cutscenes that were pretty lame looking anime, and now the characters look a lot cooler and cutscenes seem to be in-engine. Did I misinterpret them?

Not them, me. Ayame Kojima has done the character art for the games since SotN. Remember the drawings and such from then? Yeah, she doesn't do that style much anymore. It's now anime characters. Granted, theres a shift towards the old style for this remake, but the redesign for Richter is pretty awful compared to what she did for him in SotN.

You know she wasn't responsible for any of the DS titles right? Last she did was Curse of Darkness. Koji was responsible for changing art directors for DoS and PoR. I think this is actually sweet because Ayame's art has been the best Castlevania has ever seen.

The question is, when are we going to see a next gen castlevania, and will it suck?

I'd honestly like to see another 2D Castlevania, the sprites I think could be pretty detailed, fancy effects, awesome backgrounds. It'd be sweet to play a 2D Castlevania in HD.

Honestly... I have to agree with you there. I am hoping XBLA and the other, lesser consoles online download services will stimulate interest in such a thing.

Even a 2d castlevania set in a 3d environment, Manhattan Project style, would be awesome.

Castlevania in full 3d just doesn't feel even remotely the same.

Play the ones on DS. Portrait of Ruin and Dawn of Sorrow are both extremely close (some argue better) to Symphony of the Night's awesomeness.

Edit: owait

But yeah, they're using the portable systems as outlets for the 2D games. Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness both sold ok, so I don't see a reason for them not to make another one of those.
