dichloroacetate

It's common and unpatentable, so the upside is that it'll be dead cheap, but the downside is that expensive things like clinical testing will be hard to come by.

There really isn't much hype, but there is a lot of interest anyway.

Yeah, I'm reserving judgement for clinical trials, the title is just an eyecatcher. Still, it's awesome for the potential to even exist.

Yeah, until there are success living human tests, I'm not going to get too excited.

Spiff!

I love the wording used in the article too, sounds all combative.

"When reawakened, the mitochondria order the abnormal cells to die!"

Aside from being geeky science terms, sounds like some obscure RPG plot... oh wait. XD

It's only downside was being so f'ing incredibly short. Otherwise absolutely everything else about it owned.

Seems like it would only work for tumors. Do free cancer cells use glycolysis?

All eucaryotic cells do. It's the first metabolic pathway of respiration.

Same. Thankfully, for my aunt, they got it all after removing 20% of her lung. Means nothing though in the long run

So is she finally gonna quit smoking?

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piƱa coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

She quite smoking, yes, but for her it was worse than others. She suffers from severe lupus, so complications arose that normally wouldn't have. Right now she's in so much pain that she's saying she should have died when she had the chance.

Not me, and not that. Once you experience the effects of cancer on a loved one for yourself it's no longer a joke. Every day is a physical and mental struggle.

I won't go into it since I'll just have the attention whoring finger pointed at me, but it's terminal in this case.

I really have to echo you on this one, Mort. It's not funny at all after you've seen a loved one go through it. :/

Well, the good news is, im trying to get my professors to take a look at the experiment and find out what dichloroacetate does to the mitochondria of cells.

Silly boy, you aren't supposed to try and change things, you're supposed to sit back and wait for someone else to.
