Man, I'd go mad for some curry right about now.

How'd you make it?

Milk is good for neutralizing heartburn. Tums are okay, but if you take more than four or so, you'll actually make the problem worse due to acid rebound.

I believe she's in Utah now. She bitched about Utah weather a while ago in her LJ.

Sean - It might! Maybe. Sometimes...
Khyron - I moved to Utah. It's damn cold here.

Everyone else - It's not a true curry, close, but no inclusion of pre-mixed powder. It's veddy good though. Recipe follows:

1 shallot, finely chopped
1/4 white onion, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste (or just chop up equal bits of garlic and ginger and mix with a splash of vinegar)
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon fenugreek (optional)
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
1 pinch black pepper
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1/2 half-and-half (I use half cream, half milk, and it's still good)
1 cup diced tomatos (A can of rotel extra-hot makes this super-exciting!)

In a decently sized saucepan: Chop up the shallot and onion, sweat in the butter til transluscent. Add all the spices and fry up til everything's nice and fragrant. Add the lemon juice, and let it reduce by half. Take the heat down to a simmer, add the yogurt, milk type products of your choice, and the tomatos. Stir occasionally and taste to adjust spices while you're working on...

1 tablespoon oil
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces (we were hippie commie bastards last night, and made this with tofu. Was still good, bite me)
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

Heat up the oil in a saute pan til it's nice and shimmery. While that's happening, dust your chicken in the spice blend. Toss it in the pan and let it get all nice and golden brown and cooked thru, probably about 8-10 minutes.

Add the cubed chicken to the sauce, finish up with a sprinkle of chopped cashews, and serve atop a bed of basmati rice.
