I once worked in a bookstore.

It was pretty fun, actually.

Is it a new job, or have you been there for a while?

EDIT: o hay, what exactly does a courtesy clerk do? I assumed it meant customer service.

Once more into the breach, my friends, once more. We'll close the wall with our dead. In peace, nothing so becomes a man as modesty and humility, but when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with rage and lend the eye a terrible aspect.

If you liked it, it wouldn't be work.

Courtesy Clerk is management-ese for "bitch" - courtesy clerks are baggers, cleaners, and basically anything else the management comes and asks them to do.

For 3 years. However, it was a 'bag your own' place (No Frills Supermarket), and I also ran a checkout off and on for about 1 to 1 1/2 years of my time there.

You want to talk bad? When someone goes into the ladies' bathroom, somehow MISSES the toilet, and decides that this means that they have to smear it all over the floor and walls, THAT is bad. And for some reason, that happened far more often than it ever should. And while that was bad, that was not the worst of it. Oh no...

The worst was something that happened to a friend of mine, at another store. She wound up transfered to night crew to cover for someone, and wandered back into the bakery. There she found one of the night crew regulars adding his own 'special glaze' to the container of donut glaze. To this day, she won't eat glazed donuts, and she's afraid to go near a Krispy Kreme donut shop.

I believe in the existance of magic, not because I have seen proof of its existance, but because I refuse to live in a world where it does not exist.

I did that for about three months. Then I cashiered. Now I'd be your supervisor!

It would be more fun if you fucking baggers did what you're told! Most are actually ok. I want shock collars for two of them so they don't wander off every time you turn your back. I think one is getting fired for threatening a facer though!

I had two friends in high school that were courtesy clerks, and it sounded like one of the worst jobs a person could have. Customer service jobs in general blow, people are assholes.
