The "sequel" to the Zombie Survival Guid by Max Brooks.

Basically, this book is a series of interviews taken under the assumption that the Zombie Survival Guide is factually accurate, and a world-wide, Stage 4 outbreak has occured. It's survivors looking back on what happened in the Zombie War, sharing their experiences at different stages, and thus paints a relatively complete picture of how the poop hit the paddles and what happened all over the world.

If you liked the ZSG, or you like apocalyptic fiction, I highly recommend this book. It's hardcover only right now, and you can chew through it in an afternoon, but it is, nonetheless, excellent.

That's pretty much the definition of surviving, isn't it?

The problem they point out about Firearms in the initial book is that headshots are freakishly difficult to accomplish on the fly. Plus they're noisy, which attracts more trouble.

What gets me is that they only covered in minor detail the benefits of sniping, which would be optimal given that the best defense against zombies is significant height...

Because the objective is to survive, not to defeat. And sniping defensively is kind of silly; if you have the opportunity to take a camouflaged, raised position, you have the opportunity to get the hell out of Dodge.

That being said, I went and picked most of the "best" answers and only came up around 50%. I'm talking real middle-of-nowhere-gun-psycho shit.

I doubt you can break 60% by anything worthwhile.

The goal in the Survival Guide is to get far far away, dig in, fortify, and essentially start over.

By the way, if you don't want to read a novel, the comic series "Walking Dead" is fan-fucking-tastic and has four collections out. EXCELLENT reading.
