Wrong, it's based off of the Portal Gun mod for Quake (1996) that did the exact same thing.

When I hear Portal Gun I think of the one from Half-Life: Opposing Force that let you either teleport enemies the hell away or teleport yourself to a place in Zen with power-ups.
I don't know how to be sexy. If I catch a girl looking at me and our eyes lock, I panic and open mine wider. Then I lick my lips and rub my genitals. And mouth the words "You're dead."

Perhaps I shoud have linked the nuclearmonkeysoftware website and said that portal is the game that the NMS guys got pulled in by valve to make into a full game n'stuff.
