Topic: To Blizzard, or not to Blizzard.

Heyo,

Once again I have a dilemma of epic proportions. As some of you may know, once I stopped working at Midway I moved out of San Diego. Currently living as a roomy at my friend’s house, I started up my own business selling wares at the local street fairs. So far it has been fairly successful, allowing me to live on just two days work. Soon I will be working three days, for even more possible profit.

Now as my business is set up and starting to prosper, Blizzard contacted me. I had applied there previously, but it seems they have bad timing. They want me to come down for an interview, for a GM position on WoW. Now I would normally love to do so, however there has been an investment of time and money into my business. This makes it difficult to just pack up my bags and leave home once again to move to Irvine.

I considered possibly doing both, either signing up for any Irvine street fairs, or just commuting back during the weekend. Though I know this would not be possible, as working as a GM would most likely require me to work weekends. Even if not, it would be tiring to have to work during my days off, and the extra money wouldn’t be worth it.

Basically I have to decide one or the other. Continue my legacy of work in the gaming industry and give up all that I have done, or stay here and risk things at trying to be a successful business man. Of course I know I not to base things solely on the opinions of others, but any insightful advice would be appreciated while I consider this.

  • Don't do either.
  • Make a post about it on the internet.

Seriously though, why are you asking Evercrest to make a major decision for you?

  • I thought I clarified on that part, near the end of my post. I am not relying on the community to make the decision for me. Merely, I meant to query on what other folk might have to say regarding the matter, and to prompt for any to speak up if they have any thing to say that would enlighten me in some way about this dilemma.

(Do you want to see pics of my car? I don't think so.)

I cannot fathom why you would want to give up a job that allows you to work a mere 2 days a week, to go to working OT doing a mind-numbing job like GM for crappy pay.

Especially in a game that is 50% chinese farmers. Rang rang, I lost my epic!!?!

Oh come now, it's not like I hooked you up with a jetpack or anything.

Anyways, I just like working at game companies. Being a part of the company, behind the scenes, the free swag and E3 tickets. Despite some stressful times, I had a lot of fun working as a GM previously. Though yes, it was quite a hassle compared to what I am doing now.

I have been leaning towards staying and doing my thing, but I wasn’t sure if it was the best choice reasonably. Things will be a bit riskier, as there is no secure paycheck if you run your own business. Though there is potential that I will be better off as my own boss. Not to mention, it’s somewhat of a slackers dream.

You can get free E3 tickets if you're a member of the gaming media, also. And it isn't hard to get on with one of many sites that cover games.

Also, you can typically get paid hotel working with a media place.

So don't work with the game company for the E3 tickets. Especially since the glitz of the show is only really there the first time. After that, it's more work than anything else. It is always work, yeah. But you're only really wowed the first time.

    Wrong again

Second-class citizenship is reserved for those too obnoxious, too stupid and too destructive to continue to be considered worthy of respect. No one need spare any courtesy for you, since you have continually proved yourself incapable of being deserving of any, but the only way to redeem yourself is to become an upright, constructive citizen again.

Last I checked, you are in no position to actually try to determine the worth of my life. You are just another human being, no more special than others here. You and every other pissant like you that thinks they are better than others needs to step the fuck off their imaginary high horse.

I don’t give a shit if I am not popular here, or if I am not as cool and ‘acceptable’ in my posts as others. I will stay here because I enjoy reading some threads when bored, and posting from time to time. I try to review my posts for content, and even type them in Word so that they are fairly free of errors. Now if what I do is so unbearable, there are two methods. One is to ignore me; the other is to have me banned. Either way I don’t really care a rat’s ass. There’s my two copper pieces.
