I would either name it a very human name, like "Joel," "Steve," or "Dave," or a Norse name like "Bjorn," "Ulf," "Einar," "Loki," or "Fenrir."

If you name it like a human you always have to call him by that name as if he's your little brother or something. "Hold on I gotta go get Steve some breakfast."
