DnD Dragonshards came out recently, didn't seem that good. What's on the horizon for upcoming RTS games? Blizzard is a bit occupied, but what's Westwood or EA whoever doing with Command and Conquer now? Isn't there supposed to be a BFME2?

And empire builders, how is Civ4? Are there any other noteworthy games in this genre that are out or coming out?

Dunno how soon, but Command and Conquer's 10th Anniversary collection is coming up. For 40 bucks it's gonna have :

  • Command and Conquer
  • Command and Conquer: The Covert Operations
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert
  • Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun
  • Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun Firestorm
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2
  • Command and Conquer: Yuri's Revenge
  • Command and Conquer: Renegade
  • Command and Conquer Generals
  • Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour

I might pick it up. Dunno, seeing as I own all but like 3 of those games now .

I own most of those too but a lot of the CDs are messed up or missing so I'd get that.

Is AoE3 much different than the other AoEs, or did they just touch up minor details, add graphics and release?

Awesome, though hopefully the patch will come out soon that clears up issues (problems with ATI cards, a memory leak, and performance issues in long games) and improves other things (making automated AI worker not build farms everywhere). Despite the issues, you can't ask for a better strategy game.

Does it have even better animated Diplomats? I stopped after Civ2, so if that was discontinued in 3, I wouldn't know.

For a neat combination of RTS and fighter, if a bit untraditional, there's always Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders and Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes.

I like them both very much except for the horrible VA and bad dialogue.

Rome: Total War and the expansion.

It combines (turn-based) empire building and RTS.

Barbarian Invasion is alot harder, especially if you try to start out as the Mongols or the Goths, or Vandals.

Barbarian Invasion is awesome, though. Also, those three armies are awesome. I defeated ~1,500 units with 300 units.
