I found this on slashdot, so I assume most of you have already seen this, but The Australian is reporting on a strain of regenerating lab mice.

This raises some interesting questions, since these mice are typically considered close enough to humans (as far as genetics go) for testing. With the fact that mice injected with cells from these regenerating mice also gain the ability to regenerate, it begs the question whether we will be able to look forward to a "wetware" upgrade in our own futures.


Side note: I'm not in New Orleans or Louisiana, but I have a lot of friends with family there, who are by all accounts okay. My best wishes go out to them.

I'd want to see this confirmed by a second source.

That and the posibility of increased aging since cell replication is what eats away at our life span.

Actually scientists have discovered that, for some bizarre, unknown reason, there are cells in our body that never suffer from cellular aging. With proper nutrients and so forth they've kept some cultures alive for decades without any sign of cellular aging.
