Edit: I have to say, the movie would have been better without the redneck in the seat next to me seing a british note and saying "Is that ten dollars?" With me having to correct him, or the same numb-nuts falling asleep and snoring through half of the movie.

and yeah, I loved it, I'm very, very impressed with both Tim Burton and the casting director, because I don't think anyone other than Johnny Depp could pull it off

What makes a joke not funny? Is it tastelessness? Lack of funny? There are many causes, but one of them is the fact that a known fact cannot be considered a joke or funny.
For example, you, in essence, just said Aury was gay. We all knew that. It's as funny as saying Sean has a job, Snoota has a Mexican girlfriend or Gydyon is a lawyer. Not very funny, is it? Except for Snoota, that is.
If we wanted to twist that into something only mildly amusing, we might say that Sean's a working girl, Snoota craves the pink taco and Gydyon murders babies in their sleep.
