Dude! OMG!

Sorry, I just had to.

Thief: "I have come to a realisation. Dragons are not real in a general sense, but they may exist in certain specific cases."
Fighter: "Like how quantum mechanics describes how subatomic particles can spontaneously pop into existence at random!"
Thief: "No, that's stupid and stop making up words."

As far as I know, zip files don't run macros or do anything that might activate a virus...

It's one of a couple things:

Either it's genghis@dudeomg.com.zip.pif -- or something similar, and they're relying on the mail client to hide the last extension (but Outlook doesn't do that anymore, so it's probably not that.)

Or, it's just a zipped up trojan horse. These became popular within the past year because the recommendations everyone was giving to avoid the older email viruses was to zip up your real attachments, since none of those old viruses spread via zip file attachments.

Password archived zip file. Makes it through the AV scan since the AV scanner can't open it (and ususally the password is listed in the email) and they're usually set to auto-execute upon extraction (if you're using WinZip)
