Fundamentalist Islam preaches death to all infidels. To them, it's not insane, it's Jihad. Whether this is correct interpretation of the Koran or not is not my place to say, but that's how the more troublesome Islamic groups interpret it and thus we get terrorism.

Tongue-in-cheek reference to Baptist fundamentalism/fanaticism. I'm Baptist myself...or rather I was until the church pulled some shit on me that so thoroughly disgusted me with them that I haven't been back since...

Search by keyword or verse.

I haven't read through the Koran in it's entirety, but I was under the impression that they actually had that word 'Jihad' written to be a holy war. Words like 'Crusade' aren't found or condoned in the New Testament.

"Mark 13

Signs of the End of the Age

1As he was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!"
2"Do you see all these great buildings?" replied Jesus. "Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, 4"Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?"
5Jesus said to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 6Many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and will deceive many. 7When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
9"You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. 10And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. "

Expansion and inevitable war.

Now show me in the Koran where it preaches one must do war.

Now show me in the Koran where it preaches one must do war.

9:73 - O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites! Be harsh with them. Their ultimate abode is hell, a hapless journey's end.

9:111 - Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah ? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.

47:4 - Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens. That (is the ordinance). And if Allah willed He could have punished them (without you) but (thus it is ordained) that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He rendereth not their actions vain.

I should point out, though, that there are perhaps two hundred references to the doom/punishment Allah has prepared for disbelievers, and probably a good half dozen separate mandates to be cruel to disbelievers, because they're going to Hell anyway. The Jews are damned for their wrongdoing, and the Christians are damned for ascribing a partner to Allah. There may not many direct commands to go to war, but it doesn't take a mental giant to make the leap from "The disbelievers are screwed anyway, so we don't have to be nice to them" to "kill all the disbelievers," especially in light of the above verses.

Uh...nowhere in there does He condone war, let alone say that anyone should make war in His name. All He does is warn His disciples of coming trouble, saying that people will claim to be Him.

That's not even taking things out of context, that's just not reading.
