Recently my computer has picked up a new habbit. About 5 minutes after I turn it on the screen goes blue and says something about dumping physical memory. I cant get out of this screen and am forced to turn the power off. Anyone know why this is happening, or more imporntantly how to fix it? I'm using win 2k and just reformated recently so I really dont know whats going on.

Blue Screen of Death.

As for the problem, physical memory is RAM (if I recall correctly). If your system needs to dump your RAM, then you may have bad RAM somewhere. The reason it locks up is it erases everything from RAM, including your OS. Everything will get reloaded from your hard drive when you boot up again, so unless you do something and don't save it, you won't lose anything permanently. But replace your RAM as soon as possible. Not to worry, RAM tends to be pretty cheap.

Thief: "No, that's stupid and stop making up words."

formatting, lots and lots of formatting, but seriously, the only way ive fixed that is via formatting
"Buzz Beer, the beer of attainable women!"
"You try balancing a cow on the end of a fencepost to wield it like a club. Thats a physical damn challenge!"
"The only problem i have is too much aggro."

Is there like a 3 mile long error code on that screen?

I began to get that when my overclock became unstable.

I ramped it down, and it's fine now.

Shitty drivers have caused most of my past BSODs other than ones I know were caused by overclocking. Change any of those recently?

Dont know how to overclock and i'm pretty sure I havent gotten any new drivers in a few months. I dread reformating again but I suppose I have no other choice.

What OS you on? If you are running XP you can try using the system restore to go back before the erros happened. Start->Run->put in "restore"->open rstrui

Oh, Xyless has a problem, and there's four or five swarming to help.

But I have a simple mouse issue, and there's a friggin' tumbleweed blowing through the thread.
