anyone ever notice that they veritably rape and abuse punctuation? I notice that a lot in Instant messaging, I abuse the ellipse... And a lot on forums, I get too lazy to rework my thoughts coherently, so I end up having these big run on sentences and a whole lot of parentheses (even if the information is relecant).

Anyone else abuse punctuation and find themselves annoyed at themselves?

I probably do. I let periods slide a lot lately at the end of IM's. Eh.

The internet is one place where punctuation isnt AS important. We all pretty much are imperfect on the net. I could spend an hour formulating a perfect post...but say screw it As long as my point gets across, I dont care.

In general I like to overwork, yes, the poor comma. I'm getting better at fixing the massive influx of it though.

I sometimes slip with punctuations, but what I really do a lot is type the wrong words. In this very paragraph I accidently typed "somethings" instead of "sometimes". Or I'll mean to type "its" and instead type "and" etc.

The internet is not formal writing. We're speaking in spoken English using text, ergo a lot of the ceremony observed in writing (but not in spoken) is logically not followed.

My punctuation and spelling is almost always perfect. I don't know why.

I tend to leave out random letters and words in whatever I write. I also attach afterthoughts to some sentences with semicolons; it's a bad habit. Finally, if a smiley is called for, I use it in place of a closing punctuation mark =)

Just, y'know, FYI.

That semicolon was winking at me....

They say a smile is a gift which is free to the giver and precious to the recipient. But giving the finger is free too, and I find it more personal and sincere.

I don't have to concentrate to use the most correct grammar/spelling/punctuation I know. It's really not hard, guys. If a foreigner can do it, so can you.

When I post on boards, I generally try to use punctuation and such. IMs, games, etc., I'm far too lazy. XD

I slip sometimes, but I try to keep myself at least semi-coherent. I still refuse to use capitals inside brackets, though. It just feels wrong. I use semi-colons alot; I believe them to be generally ignored by everyone and hence I get cool points for them.

I hate it when people abuse puncuation. Spelling, I don't care about because I can't spell.

Even in IMing I use proper puncuation.
