So this year, as a sort of Christmas present to our church, a couple of friends and I have formed a quartet and will be singing a traditional French Christmas Carol entitled Whence Comes This Rush at tonight's Christmas Eve Service. I'll be singing tenor, my brother Nicholas is base, our friend Nicole is soprano, and our other friend Jeanine will be singing alto.

Whence comes this rush of wings afar,
Following straight the Noel star?
Birds from the woods in wondrous flight,
Bethlehem seek this holy night.

Tell us ye birds why come ye here,
Into this stable poor and drear?
Hast'ning to seek the newborn king,
And all our sweetest music bring.

Angels and shepherds, birds of the sky,
Come where the Son of God doth lie.
Christ on Earth with man doth dwell,
Join in the shout "Noel! Noel!"

Post here to wish me luck and to share some favorite Christmas Carols of your own.

There's a King on a throne with his eyes torn out.
There's a Blind Man looking for a shadow of doubt.
There's a Rich Man sleeping on a golden bed.
There's a Skeleton choking on a crust of bread.

Surprisingly, Nicole is a very good soprano even though she lacks any sort of musical training.

The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of our dear Savior's b-b-b-birth.
O holy night! The something something distant
It is the night with the Christmas trees and pie.
Jesus was born and so I get presents.

I was always fond of Christmas Time In Hell myself but that one's a keeper as well.

There's a Rich Man sleeping on a golden bed.
There's a Skeleton choking on a crust of bread.

interesting version

Hark! How the bells, sweet silver bells
All seem to say, "Throw cares away."
Christmas is here, bringing good cheer
To young and old, meek and the bold
Ding, dong, ding, dong, that is their song,
With joyful ring, all caroling
One seems to hear words of good cheer
From everywhere, filling the air
O, how they pound, raising the sound
O'er hill and dale, telling their tale

Gaily they ring, while people sing
Songs of good cheer, Christmas is here!
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas!
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas!

On, on they send, on without end
Their joyful tone to every home
Hark! How the bells, sweet silver bells
All seem to say, "Throw cares away."
Christmas is here, bringing good cheer
To young and old, meek and the bold
Ding, dong, ding, dong, that is their song
With joyful ring, all caroling.
One seems to hear words of good cheer
From everywhere, filling the air
O, how they pound, raising the sound
O'er hill and dale, telling their tale

Gaily they ring, while people sing
Songs of good cheer, Christmas is here!
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas!
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas!

On, on they send, on without end
Their joyful tone to every home.
