my new system is here, yay!

Question. I need a game to put the system to the test (P4 3.0C/1 GB ram/radeon 9800XT)

Suggestions?

EQ, turn on all the settings.

Need for Speed : Underground is pretty brutal on your system too.

Max Payne 2 tends to slow my computer down...

Sim City 4 : Rush Hour is pretty demanding on your video card, CPU, and RAM at once.

Just a few off the top of my head that I have.

Get AquaMark3. One of the newer benchmarks, and it's fucking brutal.

Gamewise: AquaNox 2, Max Payne 2, and.. uh.. Talk to Mort.

It's not something people hear about.

thanks sean. And Beta

One more question: There was some miscommunication and this pc ended up with XP home instead of Pro. Are there any major differences betweeen the two to make me wanna install a copy of Pro over Home, or is Home OK?

Pro: Default optimization for Office Productivity apps and general number crunching.

Take yer pick.

ok, in relation to my other question.

What single game is the best for showing off a high end system's capabilities? What out there is extremely pretty and such? Also at least pretty fun to play.

America's Army. I swear to god, this is the most addictive game I have ever played. Great fun, good community... and FREE. AA 2.0 Special Forces just came out, and some of the new special forces maps they have will make your system cry. I have about the same system as you except a FX 5900, and I get 15 FPS on bad parts of it.

Ah, the WaveMaster.

Great case which I've seen many times, but spoiled by one little thing. The front of the case is wider than the case itself. I just find that highly annoying.

I like things streamlined, like in (most) Lian-Li cases.

Don't get me wrong, I like the WaveMaster, but that front looks like it was just glued on as an afterthought. If they streamlined it a bit then it'd be the best case on Earth.

I think it would look better without the wavy thing on top and bottom myself, but the cool blue lights and case color offset that. Also, how insanely quiet the case is with a Vantec Whisper 520 power supply in there.

Nice system, I'd suggest KOTOR to play, crack it up with full AA and AF, very beautiful game.

I thought the only real difference was the ability to join a domain?

I've never heard of a gamer choosing Home over Pro... So your explanation is news to me

Pro offers a crappy, crappy version 5.1 (notice the 1...) of IIS for server usage. That is the largest difference I knew between the two.

To really test it? Take FFXI and turn it up to 2048 by 2048, or higher, through the registry trick. Then just run through Jeuno and watch it die.

Max Payne 1 is less optimized than Max Payne 2. At absolute max settings, Max Payne 2 runs at about 20 FPS on my P 4 2.4 GHz/512 MB RAM/GeForce 4 Ti4200 system, while Max Payne 1 runs at about 5.

Good games to test might be Chrome or the Deus Ex 2 demo. (Be prepared to get pissed off, though)
