I played all the quake games over a 56k for awhile. They were FPSes. But hey, since YOU have cable access (or DSL) Everyone else should too! And if they dont, they can go fuck themselves! I mean, god forbid the netcode work well to where 56kers and Broadband users can play together (Didnt Counterstrike do this pretty well?)

We were about to cap Mekala, a nice vanu base. I had blown the gens, most of the equip terms. 5 mins on the hack, base finally goes newt.

Some dumbshit hops in the ANT that was waiting at the silo, and DRIVES OFF WITH IT.

Of course, the VS pick this fucking time to cap the north tower and ream us up the fucking ass, so we lost the hack (Time ran out, no power, FUCKING WHEE, I LOST 3K XP.), and the continent afterwards.

We woulda done an assload better (We were finishing locking the fucking place, other bases were hacked for TR, but Mekala was the last non NC base) had that fucktard not have been there.

In the real world, I'd agree with you.

In a game, it needs to be fair and playable on all systems. You would be bitching if you had the minimum requirements and couldn't play, yes?

You have the advantage of superior equipment. Because Joe Schmoe down the street doesnt have the same equipment as you, he should be disadvantaged. You have MORE money to send, so fuck everyone else.

You play sports, it don't work like that. Take Bowling, for example. the bowlers that dont have as good of equipment may not do as well, so they get a "handicap" to help them participate with others that are far superior. those with Better gear or those that do better tend to, well, get higher scores, and have less of a handicap. Now, just because someone has crappy gear doesn't mean they will be bad, or good gear doesnt mean they will be good, but gear can help you to be quite a bit better.

Same with PC games. Gear can help you be better, which in itself gives you an advantage.

But...I still agree sony should fix their problems. I'm not arguing with you on that. What I'm bitching at you over is where you were placing the blame.

They should have you test pings to servers (Under packet stress, even) and see if your connection will hold up. If not, it sends you back to the store with a note saying you need to buy cable or return the game.

There's a problem with MAXes raytraces, especially with the TR DC MAXes that allows them to wonderfully blow you away from the side even when they're firing at the opposite wall.

Then there's the good ol' fashioned lag that lets you run around a corner and stand there for a few seconds while they're still shooting you on their screen.
