That's...not FF?

Hmmmmm...hard question.

I'd have to say Dragon Warrior.

I think it's a tie between Xenogears (although it's not a series) and Lunar.

The original Lunar: The Silver Star. I havent played Eternal Blue yet, and I never got far in Silver Star Story.
If you want computer games, that would have to be Daggerfall and the Elder Scrolls series (Arena and Morrowind). Unfortunately, Redguard never caught my interest and quit playing after awhile, and Battlespire sucked hairy donkey balls. Then again, neither of those were from the Elder Scrolls series.

Breath of Fire or the Star Ocean series. The Deception series is kind of cool too.

I have two. Baldur's Gate (which is Canadian! Huzzah!) and SquareSoft's Mana series (Seiken Densetsu in Japan).

Probably Breath of Fire, with VERY close runner up of 'Wild Arms'

Well since FF isn't my favorite anyway, the Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest series.

Poor Enix, having to work with 2nd rate hacks now.

I didn't think the Star Ocean series was anything special, and that was supposedly one of their finest works.

Baldurs Gate, hands down.
Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

Fallout 1 and 2 and Fallout Tactics

Thief and Thief 2:The Steel Age

I never got far in Daggerfall, but I loved it, and Morrowind has dragged me in recently.

Baldurs Gate rates fourth in my list. Not a bad game but it had something I hated about leveling characters in AD&D, lots of wandering around in places already explored hoping to get some much needed experience in order to beat that nasty bad highthing hidden away who wants to eat your brain...

It's funny how people call Thief and Thief 2 an RPG when it has very little RPG elements. It's just a First Person Sneaker. It's about as RPG as... Ducktales.
Dont get me wrong, Thief is one of my favorite games, but I'd hardly consider it an RPG.
