For my Seminar class, the project groups have been charged with using networking to teach an elementary or High School class a course. This could mean the teacher is teaching over a distance, or different groups of children all over the world interacting with each other over video conferencing equipment to learn. My group has chosen Earth Science as our class we shall teach.

I, myself, have been given the part of researching experiments and labs that could be done by multiple groups of children around the world, were they complete their broken up parts of the assignment then share their results over the internet to finish the overall assignment. I'm been looking for good experiments to use for our project, but want to pick people's brains around here.

So, any cool experiments dealing with earth science you can think of for us to use?

Thankee ^.^

I never took Earth Science.

That is all.

Is there any way you can get your hands on real molten magma?

I took Chemistry and Physics.

Earth Science is for n00bs.

When you say earth science, do you mean Geology? or is it another name for "general science"?

So did I, but we first did Earth Science back in Middle school too

Anywho, let me broaden the topic by allowing most anything to do with physical science, including Earth Science, anything to do with the weather, magnetism, flowing of water, etc etc.

Edit: Earth Science = Anything envolving the world in general, though nothing to do with Biology, indepth Chemistry and Physics, etc.

Yeah, like only the people who cant boost their IQ over 50 take Earth Science at my school...which is a majority.

TOok Chem, AP Chem, am taking Physics, and will take AP next year.

The last time I was in an earth science class I think we made a "volcano" that spewed forth a baking soda+vinegar mixture. You could try that. If you add red food coloring it looks just like Real Lava.

You could start talking about gravity, and from thence to black holes, and from there to quantum physics.

Never too early to start.

Let me make it clear, this is a hypothetical project. We are not teaching a real class, just showing how we would go about it, so no need to go on and on about how Earth Science is a stupid class, etc.. We just thought it would be a nifty subject to try and convey over distant learning.

Okay okay too simple.

This looks like it might be right up your alley though, except everybody would need to run outside.

(I still like the volcano though)
