I try to go back to an older registry setting, no help. Scandisk. No good. Defrag. Nada.
Tonight I spend 3 hours downloading the stupid drivers for the model on the 56k dialup (which my Outlook and IE won't even recognize at a net connection anymore) for it to not work. Keeps telling me there's no device installed for it. Lovely, looks like I'm stuck on molasses slow 56k.
I hate my PC. I will murder it.

Well, to clear up both points. For most of the movie he uses the name "Verbal" Kint. Only after the he walks out of the police station and the fax with the composite drawing comes in from the hospital do you find out that he's actually Keyser Söze. There.
Thank you, drive through.

Would you rather I installed a device which had no drivers so that my device manager ended up with a lovely yellow circle with an exclamation point through it?
Actually yes this is normally the best path to follow.
If that doesn't work call your dsl provider if its their modem they'll come and fix it.

Apparently, that Unknown Device was my DSL modem - cause it no longer worked. Little orange light? Never turned green. Ever. Again.I try to go back to an older registry setting, no help. Scandisk.
